GW Announces 40k App Digital Codex Codes & More

new 9th edition 40k codex booksThe first two 9th Edition Codexes are on the way this month but when you flip open the pages, you’ll also find a code that gives you access to the rules online via 40k App. We’ve talked about this app many times before and the Tl;DR version is “GW dropped the ball but it’s getting better…slowly”.

9th edition digital codexWhen you get your shiny new codex in hand, flip to the very back. On the inside back cover, you’ll find a printed code, unique to your copy of the codex. Keep it secret – it’s a single-use code and when entered online, it will be permanently connected to your My Warhammer account.

How To Apply Your Code

necron walwith your My Warhammer account made and ready, all you need to do is go to Warhammer40000.com/redeem* and log in with your My Warhammer Account. Then, enter your code as instructed. Now, a word to the wise: if you go there before next Saturday, you’ll be redirected to games-workshop.com. Fear not! By the time your codex is in your eager hands, the site will have been updated with this new feature, so stay cool and wait for next weekend to roll around!

With the exciting new of a digital Codex on the way to subscribers of the app, let’s talk about something else we’ve noticed.

GW Might Have Pushed Battle Forge Even Further Back…

40k app updateThis is the most recent schedule GW put up on the web. Between August 17th and October (according to the timeline) it looks like Battle Forge, i.e the army-building portion of the app, was supposed to have been live by now. But if you look at what WHC had to say on Battle Forge within the digital Codex announcement, it seems like they may have sneakily pushed it back…

As we’ve said a few times, this new functionality, and incredible way to unlock the potential of new codexes, is just one of many updates coming to Warhammer 40,000 The App. Coming months will see Battle Forge added, to make planning your matched play armies easier than ever, along with even more great features.

It seems like we will have another mysterious amount of months to go before we can start list building within the app now.

Overall, it’s nice to see that GW is not giving up on the app despite the rocky start it had. Plus, they’ve been transparent on updates too as to the many, many, delays it has had.
