Take a look back at all of last year’s 2019 Christmas battleforce boxes for 40k, AoS, and AT values to get an idea of how much the new ones may sell for.
GW just announced 10 new battleforce boxes for Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40k in 2020, but we have no idea of the retail price, or if they will be allocated.
Games Workshop did just “lift” allocations for Blood Bowl on Monday to retailers. However, all the ones we spoke with seemed to think that was because GW’s pre-orders were “soft” over the weekend both online and in their stores, and they were fishing for retailers to pick up the leftover stock that they had previously reserved for themselves.
They also all expected allocations to return once again after Black Friday. Pretty disappointing from both a retailer and consumer perspective if true.
Looking back and the pricing and savings on the 2019 Battleforces, they ranged from $170 to $200 retail, and contained $70- $100 in value, with only the Space Wolves box “underperforming” at $60ish. These released on December 7th, 2019.

Looking at all of these Battleforces, they either bring a bunch of new units (like Stormcast) or are a recent faction that’s been overhauled this year. All in all, these Battleforces all look good. The biggest savings comes from the Skaven Battleforce although it is the most expensive. Plus, some Battleforces are better equipped to supply battlelines than others. You’ll definitely need to expand in more battleline options if you move on from these boxes.

Essentially, by buying this bundle, you’re getting a free kit of Porphyrions and the tax covered. This is a pretty nice deal as far as monetary savings and units go as every unit in this bundle is totally usable and is actually quite competitive.
However, you’ll want to probably grab another bundle to really flesh out your list if you’re planning on swarming the table with a bunch of smaller models. Otherwise, if you’ve already got some giant Warlords standing by, this box might be the perfect back-up force to support them in-game.
The highest savings came from the Tyranid Battleforce with the Drukhari Box just behind. Overall, these are all fairly popular armies in 40k and come with a decent chunk of units to get somebody started off on the right foot. Each one of these boxes allows the player to make a Patrol Detachment at the very least. However, some are closer to filling out Battalions (like the Blood Angels Box) than others.
With GW raising prices amid the pandemic this summer 5-10% across the board, there is a good chance that we’ll see higher retail prices for these new battleforces in 2020. From a consumer and retailer perspective even if that is the case, if they are not allocated like the rest of November’s releases, that may be good enough to help everyone’s wallets out this holiday season.
