Warhammer 40k: GW Liquidates More Orks Units To Legends

orks legends warhammer 40k 10th EditionThe Warhammer 40k Orks range took another hit as GW liquidated most of their Forge World and some of their plastic kits to the Legends list with the new codex.

Unfortunately, the Orks are getting a pretty big swathe of units moving to Legends in 10th Edition Warhammer 40k. However, they do have a large number of datasheets, so it does make sense that GW would rotate some out in the new edition.

Warhammer 40k: GW Liquidates More Orks Units To Legends

The good news is that Games Workshop gave all the Orks units moving to Legends new points and rules. Just remember, even if it’s in Legends, you can still use them in most games, just not in official GW tournaments. Let’s start with what’s moving to Legends for the Orks, and then we’ll jump into points followed by the new rules.

Pass or Fail: Orks Mekboy Workshop Rules BreakdownFrom what we can tell, this is everything moving to Legends, based on what’s missing in the Codex and in red on the Legends Field Manual.

  • Grot Mega-tank
  • Grotsnik
  • Badrukk
  • Warboss on Warbike
  • Mekboy Workshop
  • Grot Tanks
  • Squiggoth (not Gargantuan)
  • Big Mek With Kustom Force Field
  • Nobz on bikes
  • Zagstruck
  • Mega/Meka Dreadnought
  • Kill Tank
  • Nob with WAAAAGH! Banner

New 40k Orks Legends Points

Orks Legends

Orks Legends 2As you can see, everything in red is basically new to the Legends category. While we expected some to go to Legends, this is a lot more than most Ork players may have expected. Still, this is from Games Workshop, so it’s official. There are some pretty popular units in this list, and now it looks like only the Gargantuan Squiggoth is left as the current matched play legal Forge World Ork unit for Warhammer 40k.

Orks Legends 17There are a ton of rules here, so we won’t go through all of them, but if you love any of these units, at least you’ll have rules for all of 10th Edition. While they won’t be allowed in big tournaments, most local games, home games, and even some small tournaments will let you use them. However, this is probably the last ruleset they will get for the entire edition.

The recent updates and changes to the 40k Orks Legends document by GW might have disappointed some 40k players, but it’s important to remember that this is all part of the evolution of the game. While some units have moved to Legends and received new points and rules, they can still be used in most games except for big tournaments.
