GW Reveals New 40k 9th Edition Space Wolves Rules!

New Space Wolves Rules are here for 9th Edition Warhammer 40k, so get ready to grow out your beard and feast with the Sons of Russ.

With the new book slated for release very soon, it only made sense we would get a little preview. Today Warhammer Community gave us what we’ve been waiting for! While there have been a bunch of Space Marine releases, it’s nice to see the Wolves get a little love.

The revealed rules cover relics, warlord traits, a new unit, Chapter Rules, and Stratagems. There’s a lot to break down, so let’s hop into it!

New Space Wolves Rules Spotted!

space wolves supplementThis book is going to be a supplement, so just remember you’ll need the main codex as well. If you want to see more about what all is being released for the Space Wolves, you can check it out here!

Chapter Tactic & Assualt Doctrine:

Space Wolves chapter TacticThey will be getting plus one to hit almost all the time. Especially with every single unit being able to make a Heroic Intervention, you’ll almost always be at +1 to hit. This will almost always allow you to have more units in combat than your enemy.

Savage Fury RuleWhen the Assualt Doctrine is active you can score a bunch of extra hits. While it’s an unmodified roll, it’s still 17% more hits. 20 attacks should net you about 3.5 extra hits, not too shabby.

Warlord Trait:

Warlord Traits Space WolvesWhen your Warlord achieves his trait, it will boost the core units around him. Pretty cool idea that once he gets a kill it ignites the fury inside the marines.

Relics of the Fang:

Relic of the FangIf you give your Warlord the above trait and this weapon, he’ll be making an additional +d6 &+d3 in every combat phase! That is just an insane amount of attacks. Not to mention in the Assualt Doctrine getting extra hits on every 6. Your warlord could easily get into the double digits of hits.

Frost WeaponGive your favorite weapons a little buff with this Relic. Nothing crazy but additional strength and damage could make a big impact.

Stratagems:

Warrior of LegendThis isn’t anything too special, but you can give other characters traits and the Saga. Maybe the Sagas will make this OP, but we’ll just have to see.

Healing BalmsNothing wrong with regaining some wounds on your Marines! Neither of these Stratagems are too wild-looking, but we’ll have to see the rest before making a call on their power.

New Unit – The Hounds of Morkai:

Hounds of Morkai

Hounds of MorkaiThese are basically psyker hunting Reivers. Nobody seemed too hyped about the Reivers, but maybe if you’re constantly fighting psykers, these could be worth it. Overall though, with so many rules towards psykers alone, they seem to be very niche. While they are insanely good at killing psykers, the points may be too much for how often it’s useful.

This is just a teaser, so we’ll have to see how it all plays out!

What do you think about the rules revealed so far? Are you excited to bring the Wolves to the tables soon?
