GW Teases Something Big on the Way in November With Wētā

GW Wētā 2It might be time to start clearing space on your shelves, as GW teases some very big figures on the way in November with Wētā!

While there are plenty of 1/18 scale Warhammer figures out there, it looks like these are going to be giant at 1/6 scale! So, if you want some of the biggest premium collectible figures you can get for Warhammer, these are going to be the way to go.

Wētā Workshop has had its nose to the grindstone crafting award-winning designs and collectibles for over 30 years, so we expect these to look amazing.

If you want to get an idea of how their figures look (and an idea of the pricing), check out their LoTR figures, but we’ll also have some below. For now, though, let’s jump into the new teaser!

Let’s take a look at the latest teaser for the Warhammer Wētā Workshop collaboration!

GW WētāThe video starts showing normal-sized paints, but things get a little ridiculous quickly!

GW Wētā 2Just look at the size of that paint pot! While this doesn’t give us the most information about the figures, it sure gives you the feeling that they will be huge!

Bigger miniatures are going to need a bigger paint pot!

Now we know the scale for sure; just for a comparison, JOYTOY Warhammer 40k figures are usually 1/18 scale, which is only about 4-5 inches. This means if they stick to the scale quite closely, these figures could be upwards of 12″ tall!

Perhaps they will even come unpainted so that hobbyists can finish them in the colors they choose.

While they don’t have any examples of what we could see for Warhammer figures yet, we can look at their other work to see what’s possible!

FOUNTAIN GUARD OF GONDOR

Kim Faiga, Head of Consumer Products at Wētā Workshop, says: “Our artists are going from strength to strength, pushing their own artistic boundaries to deliver best-in-class collectibles which are loved by fans all around the world. The new range of Warhammer collectibles has got the team fizzing.”

They’ve been making various hobby-related figures from several franchises, ranging from movies like The Hobbit to video games like the Borderlands series!

This is their Fountain Guard of Gondor statue based on The Lord of The Rings series, and boy, is it a beauty!

Priced at $399, the detail that has gone into sculpting these is insane! The texture on the plate, as well as all the other tiny little finishing touches, really bring the guard to life.

FOUNTAIN GUARD OF GONDOR size

Not to mention that these things are enormous! The classic statues from Wētā Workshop are at 1/6 scale, which is about 12 inches scale-wise. That hulks over most other collectible statues and figures we’ve seen from Games Workshop!

While they are generally about 12″ tall, the GW stuff will most likely be bigger based on the “super human” size of a Space Marine.
