The first Space Marines came to us nearly THIRTY years ago as an exclusive mail order offer that quickly exploded in popularity with the 40k line being released just two years later in 1988 (and secretly Batman themed to boot).
To celebrate it looks like Games Workshop is doing something BIG in GW branded stores on April 16th with new releases, giveaways, and in store events as well.
Honestly I don’t see how you can have a “SPACE MARINE DAY” and not give out Space Marine swag, but the exact details of the giveaways are unknown at this time.
But here’s what we DO know:
If that date seems familiar, it’s because it’s one of THREE blackout dates for Games Workshop store employees (for not being able to take leave, etc) as reported HERE first just one month ago:
A mate of mine passed along that GW has blacked out the following dates for their store employees: Feb 28, Apr 16,and May 7th. I assume that means big releases on those dates.
So February 28 was Deathwatch, and now we know that Space Marine Day is April 16th. What do you suppose May 7th will be?
