GW Hiring a Warhammer 40k Background Writer
Let’s hear about who they are looking for and what they expect:
You will be responsible for reinforcing the intellectual property (the IP) of Warhammer 40,000 through the words in our core books, Codexes, campaign books, Kill Team products, and more. You will also be tasked with developing the ongoing setting and narratives of Warhammer 40,000 and Kill Team, whilst also developing and reinforcing the IP and narrative of their miniatures ranges.
The Warhammer 40,000 Studio consists of approximately 40 creatives including Games Designers, Artists, Background Writers, Photographers and Editors, and is part of the wider Warhammer Studio responsible for all of the Warhammer games. Many of these people have had long careers within the Studio, some focussed on one discipline whilst others have worked in many different roles. It is a fast-paced, collaborative environment dedicated to making the Warhammer 40,000 hobby as fun and engaging as possible.
Requirements:
- A high standard of written English.
- A keen enthusiasm for – and knowledge of – the contemporary Warhammer 40,000 setting.
- The ability to get enthused about every Warhammer 40,000 faction with a total lack of bias, and to act as a champion for the Warhammer 40,000 IP on a daily basis.
- An ability to work well as part of a wider creative team.
- A commercial awareness of Games Workshop’s products.
- The ability to research, absorb and collate information then present it in a concise and engaging fashion.
- A willingness to accept, understand and act constructively on critical feedback.
- We know what makes this job hard is being able to produce large amounts of world class words to brief and to deadline while working closely and collaboratively with the other teams within the Warhammer 40,000 studio.
