Ordo Malleus Battleforce Description

Coteaz backlash

This box shows off a new way to build an Imperial Agents army, with a host of Grey Knights helping Coteaz cleanse the galaxy! While this doesn’t have the most miniatures, they are all quite elite and will be a fun force to build and paint up.

  • Games Workshop - Warhammer 40,000 - Kill Team: Inquisitorial Agents
  • Secret acolytes who guard the Imperium in Kill Team and Warhammer 40,000
  • Builds seven agents, including a cyborg Gun Servitor and floating Tome- skull
  • A dizzying variety of options - most models can be built in different ways
  • These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints.

Inquisitor Lord Torquemada Coteaz

Imperial Agents Codex 5

Inquisitors are versatile leaders, now able to grant a 6+ invulnerable save to their unit along with the Command point-regenerating Power of the Rosette. Fans of the lore will be excited to see Inquisitor Lord Torquemada Coteaz back in action. Known for his vast network of agents and massive daemonhammer, Coteaz dons a suit of gleaming power armor to lead on the battlefield.

Poor Coteaz has been getting panned on social media after his reveal, but there is precedent for Games Workshop changing the design of a miniature after it was previewed. Uriel Ventris from 2021 also drew a ton of criticism after his preview, and Games Workshop quietly released the miniature with a redesigned head sculpt.

Grey Knights Terminator Squad

Grey Knight Terminators

Loaded with an arsenal of close combat and ranged weapons, Grey Knight Terminators teleport right into the heart of the action, wiping out enemies swiftly and efficiently.

Chimera

ChimeraThe Chimera is a jack-of-all-trades war machine, built tough and designed to shuttle soldiers straight into the thick of the action. While the troops are on board, they can man the Chimera’s lasguns from the comfort of their armored hideout. Once they hit the ground, the Chimera’s crew keeps the firepower coming with its heavy-duty weapons.

Culexus Assassin

Culexus Assassin

The Culexus Assassin is the stuff of nightmares, both for the eyes and the soul. This anti-psyker menace is like a ghost, slipping between dimensions and leaving a trail of enemies decimated in a gruesome fashion. With his eerie and unmatched powers, he turns foes into a spectacular mess of gore.

Ministorium Priest with Vindicator

Ministorum Priest with Vindictor

The Ministorum Priest with Vindicator is a holy warrior with a penchant for over-the-top pyrotechnics. Imagine your average Imperial priest, but in addition to hymns and faith, they’re packing a massive, thunderous Vindicator. They don’t just spread the word of the Emperor; they do it with style—and a whole lot of explosions.

Inquisitorial Agents

Inquisitorial Agents

Inquisitors, with their almost boundless authority in the Imperium, send out squads of authorized agents across the galaxy to execute their will. These covert teams, guided by trusted Interrogator apprentices, are a motley crew: custom-built servitors, soldiers borrowed from all military branches, perilous psykers, convicted killers whose talents are too handy to ignore, and religious fanatics whose intense faith keeps them sane through experiences that would send anyone else over the edge.

Ordo Malleus 40k Battleforce Review

cotaez codex cover

So, you’re thinking about grabbing the Ordo Malleus Battleforce?

There is only one new miniature inside, but if the price does end up being $215, there is a decent amount of value in this box. It would easily get you the Inquisitorial Agents and a character for free (pretty much), so if you want the new Coteaz model, you might as well pick this up and save some cash.

The new detachment should let you bring down some psykers across the galaxy!

          Battleforce Comparisons

Below, you can see how the new Ordo Malleus Battleforce compares to older Battleforces, like the Space Marines (which featured 20 models) and the Deathwing Assault release. Given the value of this box, it could end up retailing for $230 as well- we will just have to wait and see.

Box Set Name Price Qty of Minis Value
          Deathwing Assault $220 22 $124
          SM Spearhead Force $230 20 $100
Council of the Death Lord 2022 Battleforce $230 20 $120
          Ordo Malleus Battleforce $210 22 $106
          Stompa Boyz Battleforce $210 23 $166

          Is This Worth It?

Imperial Agents Battleforce Ordo MalleusDo you want to start an Imperial Agents army and don’t have anything yet? If you answered yes, then this is totally worth a pickup! It comes with plenty of agents and even a compliment of Grey Knights to help your campaign. However, a lot of the value comes in the way of the Agents and characters, so if you have a couple of boxes of them already, we would probably pass.

But this box will have early access to Coteaz, and while his model has received some backlash, it will be the earliest way you can score him!

          What to Buy Next?

Well, considering we haven’t seen really any rules from the codex, it’s hard to say. We would probably pick up some more Grey Knights to bolster the force, but other than that, it’s hard to even know what units you will be able to take beyond this and Grey Knights for now.

There is also something to be said about just buying the minis you think are cool and building an army around them! Don’t forget to grab the new rules for this faction and brush up on how to play them.

While it may not have the highest value, The Ordo Malleus Battleforce still offers a great way for new players to start building their armies and explore the faction.

Overall these new Battleforce boxes are designed to help players start with thematic Detachments for Ordo Xenos, Ordo Malleus, and Ordo Hereticus. Click the links below to see the contents and value inside each battleforce box set.
