It is always Kabals to the wall, as the Dark Eldar have proven themselves to be masters of disruption and hit-and-run tactics. Is the Agents of Vect stratagem TOO good for the Aeldari overall?
What’s this stratagem all about?
Agents of Vect
This is a way to slap your opponent in the face without actually raising your hand to do it. It may seem expensive at 3CP to stop a stratagem from going off, but think about the absolutely game-changing stratagems there are out there. Even a command point reroll on a Guilliman or Celestine coming back to life can end the hopes of ever turning the tides of battle. To add insult to injury, if you roll a 6 when you use the stratagem, your enemy doesn’t get any command points back.
Shieldbreaker Missiles
You know that Archon with a 2++ invulnerable save? You know how he can’t be targetted because he’s a character with less than 10 wounds? This 2 CP stratagem shuts him down. Killing a character with a weapon that doesn’t allow invulnerable saves to be taken has never been easier. Well, Dark Eldar says that’s not happening. Activate Agents of Vect to stop your Archon from getting turned into a gooey paste.
3CP is Expensive
Is it really though? You play Dark Eldar…
If you’re REALLY trying to farm command points, Dark Eldar can take a battalion for right at 200 points. You’d obviously want to add more stuff to one of your detachments but as far as hoarding up command points, you can’t beat the cost.
Labyrinthine Cunning
Don’t forget that you’ve got a warlord trait that can get CPs back on a roll of a 6. This isn’t just anytime you use a stratagem, you can roll to get 1 CP back. You roll to get ALL CPs back. So technically, you can use Agents of Vect, make your opponent lose all their CPs, and still get all 3 of yours back. Oh yeah and this is for whenever you or your opponent use a Stratagem. So you can actually get their CPs back on the stratagem you just countered.
The Silver Lining
The silver lining to all this is if you do find yourself going against a Dark Eldar player, you just don’t have to fail any of your rolls. They can’t mess up your stratagems if you always roll hot.
