3rd Place: Tucker Rickey – Genestealer Cults
2nd Place: Walker Julliard – Thousand Sons
1st Place: Ryan Lappin – Black Templars
High Marshal Helbrecht led Ryan’s Black Templar list for a fantastic melee mini with good buffs to his squad, two Lieutenants add leaders who grant Lethal Hits, while the Emperor’s Champion is just a super efficient melee leader who gets bonuses to targeting characters.
Troops see a single unit of Intercessors join the list as a cheap option with fair output in melee and ranged skirmishes. Two Impulsors bring in some Armored Ranged firepower at a low cost which is always nice to have, all while providing a transportation option to boot.
Two units of Inceptors act as some mobility and the dedicated anti-armor shots thanks to their still-fantastic Plasma Exterminators.
An Infiltrator squad adds a few more slightly more generic ranged options, followed by another tank in the form of a Land Raider with some great ranged weapon options. Three units of Primaris Sword Brethren act as the main threats in the list bringing fantastic melee units that really want nothing more than to make a charge and blender enemy lines.
The list then closes out on two Scouts to help round out points and add a hint of utility thanks to their redeploy ability.
There you have it: the top Warhammer 40k army lists from the NATC Team Event were ruled by Genestealer Cults, Thousand Sons, and Black Templars.
Ryan’s Black Templar army came out on top thanks to its focus on melee prowess. They brought in a ton of melee threats and even had room for the faction’s strongest ranged options. Overall, studying these army lists offers some insight for newer Warhammer 40k players and pros alike.
