The Sector Mechanicus Forge, Incenerator, and Crane are coming out this weekend. Today we’re going over their rules and a mission that comes included.
Thanks to Scanner we were able to get our first look at these new rules for playing with these kits in 7th edition 40k.
Promethium Forge
The Prmethium Forge is considered a ruin which just means every model in the ruin receive a 4+ cover save, with the exception of Monstrous Creatures. Aegis of the Omnissiah is a special rule attached to all Sector Mechanicus terrain pieces. It simply allows you to re-roll cover saves of 1 for models on or within 1″ of a Sector Mechanicus terrain piece. Fuel Siphon allows non-vehicle models equipped with a flamer that is within 2″ of a Promethium Forge to change its weapon type in the Shooting Phase. It can change from Assault to Heavy, or from Pistol to Heavy, the weapon then gains the Torrent special rule until the end of that phase.
Ferratonic Incinerator
The Ferratonic Incinerator is also a Ruin and has the Aegis of Omnissiah special rule. Volatile Cover might just have you rethinking using these structures as cover. At the start of each game turn you’ll roll a dice for each Ferratonic Incinerator on the battlefield. On a roll of 1 every unit within 3″ of the incinerator section of the terrain piece immediately suffers D6 Strength 5 AP4 hits with the Ignores Cover special rule.
Altar of War: Industrial Deathzone
This mission is a great way to get all your new terrain onto the tabletop. But what’s interesting about this mission is the terrain stats that were included in it. All 3 pieces of terrain (Crane, Dozer, Tractor) have a Toughness value of 7, with a 3+ armor save. But the Galvanic Crane has 6 wounds, while the Dozer and Tractor only have 3.
So there you have it, the latest Sector Mechanicus Terrain and rules. Make sure you give that mission a quick read, it does look like fun, and seems like a great way to spend the afternoon with a couple friends.
What are your thoughts on all the new Sector Mechanicus terrain pieces?
