New Grey Knights Castellan Crowe is Primaris Size

crowe-wal-horLooks like the new Castellan Crowe 40k miniature is indeed a Primaris size, so what does that mean for the rest of the Grey Knights?

After GW revealed the new miniature, it got us wondering about a few things, first, is he getting Primarised? Second, which of the box set rumors we saw about a month ago might come true. Finally, did they reveal everything coming for the Grey Knights in the upcoming Thousand Sons and GK battle box?

Just remember, some of what we’re talking about are rumors, so take them with whatever salt you feel necessary. Let’s get into it!

How Big is Crowe Going to be?

Crowe-Comparrison-1When compared to a normal strike squad model, he really towers over him, meaning, if GW ever revamps the line, there’s a chance they could get a bit bigger…

Crowe-Comparrison-2We took the old Crowe miniature and matched him up with the base size of the troops around the new one in Photoshop, and so far the scale looks right…

crowe primarisNow when they are both compared to a Primaris Captain, on the same plane of reference, the difference is pretty noticeable.  Either way, he’s getting hit with the scale creep (as both the captain and new Crowe look to be on 40mm bases), and must have really eaten his grimdark Wheaties.

Thousand Sons Getting the New Minis?

grey knights & thousand Sons revealedWe have been hearing that starting with this box set that all future combo boxes will have a new character level mini, and the other one side will all have all new releases. So in theory these *could* in fact be new sculpts for the Grey Knights, or perhaps new T-Sons units that we have never seen before (as their models are so “new”).

So this apparently will be the trend moving forward, where one side gets a new character and the other gets a bunch of new minis (in general). It seems like the Grey Knights are the side getting a new character, Crowe, considering their plastic minis are *only* ten years old (yes we know Marines get new stuff every year), but other factions usually don’t get updates that often.

So while more new minis for them would be nice, we wouldn’t count on it. It seems much more likely the Thousand Sons get a full new set of minis, along with the Infernal Master.

Have We Seen the Grey Knights Side of the Box?

Gk Crowe artThe rumors said the Grey Knights would be getting a Strike Squad, Dreadknight, and Crowe. So GW may have actually shown us their half of the box yesterday. If the rumors are true, you’re looking at the release for the Grey Knights right here, and a potential rescaling of their line is most likely not happening with this release.

Booya!
