The new Chaos Space Marines MTO prices from GW don’t seem to make sense, as you can actually score them cheaper from the secondary market.
Last time, we looked at how GW might be monitoring the secondary market to price out their MTO offerings of out-of-print models; however, this time, GW is taking it a step further. This time they are charging more than the secondary market for the models, which is just a little wild.
We understand they are OOP models, but keep in mind when you have to MTO them, meaning you can wait up to 180 days. If you could do a simple search, find the same thing, and get it for cheaper somewhere like eBay and sooner, it seems like a hard sell.
New GW MTO Prices Don’t Seem to Make Much Sense
As you can see, the prices for these old models on GW’s site are somewhat high, especially considering they are MTO, compared to plastic kit prices.
Over on eBay, you can get Abaddon for under half the price, and while it is pre-owned, all the bits are there. Perhaps more importantly, you don’t have to wait up to 180 days.
The Chaos Lord is a little closer in price, but you can still save some cash depending on where you live. While there are a lot of primered models, there are plenty of non-base coated models as well.
Again, it’s really not that hard to find Typhus for about half price; overall, it just really feels like GW missed the boat with these prices.
Let’s hope when they do these older MTO models again, they price them at least a little more reasonably based on what they are!
Will you be picking any of these up from GW? What are your thoughts on the pricing?
