New Primaris Shadowspear Rules & Restrictions SPOTTED

Put away the photato phones! New clearer pics with all the points, traits, and more for the Shadowspear Primaris marines are here for Warhammer 40k!

Spotted on Imgur, these images look to be from the mini codex we’ve heard about inside the Shadowspear Box Set. Will these new units put Space Marines in a better position to take the meta?

Vanguard Warlord Traits

Starting off with the Warlord Traits, it looks like we’ve got six new ones to choose from. Shoot and Fade is essentially Dark Eldar’s Fire and Fade stratagem packed into a nifty rule. Not bad! Master of the Vanguard is another solid choice by making your Marines just a bit faster. Plus, if you come in from deepstrike, you’ll only need to roll an 8 on 2d6 rather than a 9.

New Primaris Points Values

The characters don’t seem like bad options at all. The Librarian is only 111 pts (with wargear) and with his psychic support, we think you’ll want to be running two. However, looking at the Suppressors, they’re 33 pts a model (with wargear) coming out to almost 100 pts for three two-wound models…That’s a little pricey for only six autocannon shots hitting on a 4+ from deepstrike. But we can’t say for sure how they’ll be until we see them perform on the table. Infiltrators are a whopping 22 pts per model! That’s a pretty expensive troop choice. At least they have a massive anti-deepstrike bubble.

Who Can Take These New Primaris Marines?

The codex actually elaborates on which Chapters can bring these guys along. Essentially, Deathwatch, Grey Knights, and Legion of the Damned are the only ones that missed out. (Black Templars can take everything except the Librarian).

The codex also elaborates that Reivers have Phobos armor as well. They’ve added in the keyword to the unit. Now, you’ll be able to have an all Phobos-themed army!

What are your thoughts on the points cost of the Primaris units? Are they more expensive than you thought they’d be? Which Chapter is best for which unit? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
