If you thought the Sons of Fenris were just going to sit out the next wave of Warhammer 40k updates, think again. Space Wolves legends like Logan Grimnar, Njal Stormcaller, and Arjac Rockfist are getting the model refresh treatment, and it’s about time.
Rumors were flying faster than a Thunderwolf charge, from new kits for Grey Hunters and Blood Claws to a full-blown Terminator upgrade (all true)—and yes, there’s even more chatter about a Leman Russ Primarch model on the horizon.
Whether you’re building a new army or dusting off your old wolf pelts, this Space Wolves update could reshape the future of the Chapter in a big way.
Let’s break down what’s real, what’s rumored, and what’s next.
New Model Space Wolves Reveals & Refreshes
Here’s a list of the revealed and rumored models so far.
Revealed models:
- Space Wolves Terminators (Wolf Guard)
- Logan Grimnar, the Great Wolf
- Njal Stormcaller
- Arjac Rockfist
- Wolf Priest
- Grey Hunters
- Blood Claws
- Headtakers
Rumored Models:
New Saga of the Bold Detachment Rules
Alright, let’s talk about the boldest Detachment of them all—Saga of the Bold. The move here is simple: pack in as many Characters as you can to soak up all those tasty re-rolls thanks to Heroes All.
The more Characters you’ve got on the field, the better your chances of pulling off three or more Boasts, which finishes the Saga and spreads those sweet re-rolls to the rest of your army. Heroism pays off, big time.
Re-rolling is always a win, and if you’ve got a bunch of characters hanging around, you don’t even need to stress about finishing the sagas!
That said, knocking out those oaths still kicks your army up a notch and cranks the danger level way up. So yeah—pick your targets wisely, and send in the right hammer to smash ’em.
Last but not least, getting free CP is amazing! This is also fairly easy to achieve, so you should be able to stack up the CP.
There are a bunch of awesome new character models on the way, and the Wolf Guard are basically their personal bodyguards thanks to this rule.
Most of the time, enemies will only manage to wound them on a 4+—and even if they somehow double the character’s toughness, they’re still only wounding on a 3+. Not exactly a walk in the park for your opponent.
Good thing the Wolf Priest kit comes with plenty of build options—because you’re gonna want one leading each of your Blood Claw packs into the thick of it.
Their Healing Balms keep your wild pups patched up, and their booming war sermons crank the ferocity up to eleven.
And when it comes to your Wolf Guard Headtakers, a Wolf Guard Battle Leader is the ideal tag-along. Whether you load both him and his squad with storm shields for that extra grit on foot, or toss them all in an Impulsor with dual-wielding fury for a storm of extra attacks, it’s a combo straight out of Russ’ own playbook.
Logan Grimnar: New Model
Logan Grimnar isn’t just any warrior—he’s one of the most celebrated legends the Imperium’s ever seen, racking up centuries of glorious service leading the Space Wolves.
The High King of Fenris is an absolute unit on the battlefield, flanked by his two monstrous wolves, Tyrnak and Fenrir, and swinging the legendary axe Morkai like it’s an extension of his own fury.
Draped head-to-toe in Fenrisian style—think thunderwolf pelts and runes so detailed they’d make a tech-priest weep—Grimnar is every inch the warrior king he’s rumored to be.
One of the most talked-about updates centers around Logan Grimnar, the Space Wolves’ Great Wolf. Traditionally depicted in a chariot led by fierce wolves, the rumor mill indicates that Logan may be reimagined on a standard base, accompanied by two wolves (and it turns out this came true).
We think this change reflects the evolution of Logan’s character in the lore, emphasizing a more grounded, warrior-focused presence in line with other prominent characters like Roboute Guilliman.
Making your opponent pay extra CP is always a good time—just make sure this guy gets stuck into the action so they’re burning resources just to get anything done!
Maybe they took inspiration from the H.M.O piece from 2020!
Njal Stormcaller
Njal Stormcaller is basically the beating heart of the Space Wolves’ soul, and when it comes to Rune Priests, almost nobody in history can tap into the raw fury of Mother Fenris like he can.
When Njal gets going, he calls down the elemental wrath of the storm itself, whipping up howling winds to shield his allies and blasting his enemies with enough lightning to make the Emperor jealous.
Wherever the battle needs a little extra chaos, Njal’s storm is never far behind.
The slick new take on High Rune Priest Njal Stormcaller throws him back into his classic power armor—nostalgia and power all in one. That means he’s got more unit options to roll with, but honestly, you can’t go wrong pairing him with a pack of Grey Hunters.
They get the most out of his Wind Walker psychic trick. With a sweet 13” effective move, Assault on their rapid-fire bolt carbines, and a hefty OC of three each, Njal and his squad can bounce around the board and grab objectives like it’s their full-time job.
Njal Stormcaller, Old model.
Another key figure in the Space Wolves lore, Njal Stormcaller, is also getting a rework (and is quite old). Njal’s psychic prowess has made him a fan favorite for decades, and bringing him up to scale with other updated terminators hints at a larger and more imposing model.
This size update may align Njal with recent changes to terminator characters across factions, bringing him in line with the updated aesthetic of Warhammer 40k’s newer models. However, that is not Terminator armor he is wearing now…
Arjac Rockfist
The walking mountain of muscle and ceramite known as Arjac Rockfist is basically the High King’s personal wrecking ball, dishing out justice and upholding the Chapter’s honour one crushed skull at a time.
When enemy commanders get too cocky, Arjac steps in to settle things the old-fashioned way—with a duel and a swing of his massive Foehammer.
He’s so ridiculously good with it that he can lob the hammer across the battlefield with pinpoint accuracy, then summon it right back to his hand like it’s no big deal. (And yes, the new miniature even lets you show that off with an optional throwy-arm.)
Arjac’s main gig? Smashing enemy characters into the dirt. With full re-rolls, precision hits, and a truckload of damage, most characters won’t last long. But don’t think he stops there—thanks to Anti-Monster 3+ and Anti-Vehicle 3+, he’s built to wreck just about anything that gets in his way.
Arjac Rockfist is another notable character rumored to be part of this update. Known for his strength and mastery with a thunder hammer, Arjac’s refresh features his formidable weapon and a scaled-up suit of Terminator armor.
He also recently received a JOYTOY figure, which looks as fresh as the miniature we think!
New Terminators Revealed
The Wolf Guard who don’t charge into battle as Headtakers get a different kind of honour: they suit up in ancient Terminator armour, decked out with runic carvings and Fenrisian trinkets—sometimes still carrying a little of the old owner’s battle spirit (or at least their fashion sense).
Thanks to their mountain of experience, these Wolf Guard Terminators are an absolute nightmare to take down, and just as deadly dishing out the pain.
They can even swap their trusty storm bolters for gorgeously decorated storm shields if they’re feeling extra fancy—and their Pack Leader brings the hurt even harder, swinging a massive relic greataxe or flashing a deadly set of lightning claws.
The Wolf Terminators are also rumored to receive a new kit, similar in style to the recent Blood Angels release. This turned out to be true, and they look great!
These new Terminators are some of the most formidable warriors in the Chapter, and the new models may include various customization options such as wolf-themed armor, weapons, and furs, making them even more visually striking.
Codex Similarities & Speculation on Leman Russ
In terms of codex updates, there’s talk that the Space Wolves codex may take cues from recent releases like those for the Blood Angels and Dark Angels. However, this news has left some fans concerned.
The refreshes for both chapters brought mixed reviews, especially regarding certain iconic units like the Sanguinary Guard, which faced aesthetic changes and new rules that polarized opinions.
The Space Wolves’ unique identity as a chapter lies not only in their fierce tactics but also in their connection to the wild, Fenrisian way of life. Many fans are hoping that any updates will retain these defining characteristics.
For the Wolftime?
Lastly, while whispers about the Primarch Leman Russ’s return have surfaced, there’s little concrete information pointing toward this. Speculation suggests that if Russ does make a return, it would likely be far down the line, given the current focus on other factions.
More New Rumored Unit Refreshes
Next on the rumored refresh list, Scouts are crucial for reconnaissance and infiltration. Any new models will likely reflect their stealthy, adaptable nature while staying true to the wild spirit of Fenris.
Possible Release Date: Mid 2025
Current speculation places the release of new Space Wolves models and codex updates around mid-2025. We know the army set releases on June 7th, 2025, so these characters could follow within 2-3 months as well.
Mid-2025 would provide ample time for a comprehensive update, allowing Games Workshop to fully develop new designs and rule sets that honor the unique ferocity and lore of the Space Wolves.
This would also line up perfectly with the three major Chaos releases hitting shelves, and then not taking up the big end-of-the-year release slot, potentially opposite the Thousand Sons…
The Howl on the Horizon
It’s safe to say the Sons of Fenris are in for some long-overdue upgrades, and the buzz around the Space Wolves has set imaginations racing faster than a pack of hungry Fenrisian wolves.
From Logan Grimnar stepping off his sled to Njal Stormcaller leveling up his Terminator armor look, these new models have something for every Space Wolves fan to sink their teeth into.
