Painting Deathwing Terminators Made Easy: Next Level Painting Tutorial
This is a quick and easy way to get your armor done in no time with four main colors:
- Pro Acryl Transparent Brown
- Pro Acryl Golden Brown
- Pro Acryl Ivory
- Pro Acryl Bright Ivory
- Vallejo Flow Improver (mixed in with the paints in the airbrush)
He will start by sparing the model white and using an airbrush for most of the steps. Remember that you can use this method for any type of bone armor or color, not just the Deathwing. Let’s see how to do it!
Step 1:
With a white primed Deathwing terminator, lightly coat the whole model with Pro Acryl Transparent Brown. This sticks extremely fast, but you don’t want this too thick, as you want a little of the undercoat to shine through, giving it a yellow tinge.
Step 2:
Without cleaning the pot, add some Pro Acryl Golden Brown and go over almost the entire model again, leaving the previous brown only in the darkest areas. Generally, you do this from the top down. This is just to give us something a little more dramatic. Just take your time and build up several layers.
Step 3:
Once again, add some Pro Acryl Ivory without cleaning out the pot. Cover the model again but be a little more reserved so we can leave in the Golden Brown to form transitions. Hit things like the shoulder pads, head, and the tops of most areas. For each layer, you want to leave some old colors so you get a nice and smooth transition without taking too long. It’s essential when you’re going this bright, you thin your paints down more and make sure the tip stays clean. Then add Pro Acryl Bright Ivory to the dirty pot, and this is our smallest layer yet (think of the highest points of the model). Leave some of the previous colors to make great transitions; again, you’ll want to thin this more than before.
Step 4:
After that, finally, empty the pot and use pure Pro Acryl Ivory as a highlight on only the highest points. With that, our armor looks perfect, and you can freely finish the rest of the model!
