Pass or Fail: Curvier Citadel Painting Handle Review

Pass or Fail: Curvier Citadel Painting Handle ReviewFor the fourth year in a row, there is a new Citadel Painting Handle, check out what Rob thinks about it as he compares it to the past three.

It seems kind of strange for another one to come out for the fourth year, but people are still buying them. It’s only crazy if it doesn’t work.  Might as well update it and give it that fresh new car smell!

In this review, Rob compares it to their previous ones, see how it works, and gives us his thoughts on it so you can decide if these are worth your hard-earned hobby dollars. Let’s go!

Pass or Fail: Curvier Citadel Painting Handle Review

Citadel Paint handleHere it is, the 2020 paint handle. New and improved with some more curves, so it has to be better! It goes for $12.50 and it will probably be quite expensive on the secondary market.

Paint Handle 2020

Paint HandleThis is hollow and very very light. The head doesn’t detach, so if the spring mechanism bites the dust, time for a new one, no replacement pieces.

Size of handleIt’s about 3″ tall and 1.75″ wide. It can hold minis ranging from 25mm up to 40mm, but without a detachable head, that’s all the range.

How Does it Work?

Holding a miniIt immediately feels comfortable when you put a mini on it. When there is a counterbalance (mini) on the top it actually feels pretty decent. Instead of just pinching two fingers together, it feels like you should grab the whole thing instead.

32mm HandleOnce you get a little bit of a bigger model on there, it feels even better. It feels pretty secure and Rob is kind of impressed by it.

Comparisons

2016 ComparisonHere it is lined up with the 2016 model. The older one has a detachable head, is heavier, and feels overall a little better built. But, the newer one is easier to hold onto and while it doesn’t feel as well made, it seems easier to paint with.

Bigger HandleOf course, this only goes up to 40mm, so if you need a handle for bigger stuff, it doesn’t even compare to the larger handle. no worries, just wait until 2021 for the XL version of this one!

Comparison 2019If you want to paint faster, you have to grab the red one from last year then. Because red makes everything go faster!

Paint handlesThat does it for this one! If you’re like Rob, why not go all Pokemon on them and catch them all. And Rob actually feels like it’s better than its predecessors which was a bit of a surprise.
