Today we’re taking a closer look at the Pop Goes the Monkey team display from the Adepticon 2018 40k Team Tournament. You’re not going to want to miss this!
The Adepticon 2018 Team Tournament brought out some of the best displays we’ve ever seen, and the Pop Goes the Monkey display was one of the best we got the chance to see. Let’s take a closer look at their gigantic display and the handout that was being passed out during Adepticon to help better explain the theme of it.
Sent on a mission so secret, that the Emperor Himself had to expunge all knowledge of it from the Imperial records… The Void Drakes fight their way across the galaxy alone, and without hope of reinforcement carrying prized Eldar technology in a bid to save their Emperor.
The Void Drakes are a codex astartes Marine chapter, founded by the Emperor, and under the leadership of his revered son Ket’zel Draconis. The Void Drakes count amongst their armory the very best weaponry the techpriests of Mars could produce. Prepared for a long journey and hellish fight, the Void Drakes set to the stars in an Apocalypse Class battleship outfitted with Pilum and Gladius class dropships designed to deliver the orange and crimson emblazoned warriors straight to the heart of the Emperor’s enemies.
Pursued by the cruel and mercurial Harlequins desperate for the return of the Tzol’Kin Cartouche they carry, the Void Drakes have known no respite. Dark and evil allies of the Eldar have seeded the halls of Terra and the monasteries of their fellow Astartes with lies and half truths to ensure that the Eleventh can know no succor. Believed to be traitors, their own brothers plot their eradication. Seeking the powerful artifact, Chaos too haunts their every step.
And where else would Guilliman himself be but up in the cockpit directing his troops where to go once they hit boots on ground. What made it even more impressive is you can see the Eleventh Legion’s emblem everywhere you looked on the ship.
Speaking of size, to give you an idea of just how big this display was, that’s a full-size Imperial Knight in the front bay. There’s nothing mini about this Thunderhawk!
The people on the Pop Goes the Monkey Team did an amazing job with their display, and it truly paid off in the end. What makes this display and army even more impressive is that they incorporated the Eleventh Legion emblem all throughout it. You can see it in the cockpit on the wall behind Guilliman’s wings, on the front of the tanks, the wings on the Space Marines, and many more places.
Adepticon 2018 was definitely a really good time and we’re glad we got the opportunity to see this amazing display, we hope you enjoyed seeing this one as much as we did. Make sure you’re checking back in with us throughout the week as we showcase more of our favorite displays from the Team Tournament.
