Followers of the Dark Gods rejoice as the Renegade Knights and Armigers got their very Index this morning out of the blue. Don’t miss this one!
Let’s take a look at what these engines of Chaos will take to the tabletop.
Warhammer Community revealed the index this morning for these Traitor Knights.
Renegade Knights
Knights are awesome. We can all agree that there’s something special about conquering the battlefield with towering war machines the size of cathedrals, and when the new Dominus-class Knights came out, we know a few of you Chaos players were looking on with envy.
Loads of you have been asking about rules for using these models in your Chaos army – and so, today, we’re doing just that, with free rules for more Renegade Knights. And – to accompany your new (or truly ancient) Dominus-class Knights to war – Renegade Armigers.
Looking at the sheet, it’s a lot to take in. For the most part, it looks just like an Imperial Knight as far as stats and weapon choices. But the Engine of Destruction rule is where the Chaos shines.
- Engine of Destruction: If this model has a reaper chainsword and a thunderstrike gauntlet, its attacks characteristic is changed to 5 and WS is increased to 2+.
That’s 5 attacks hitting on 2’s for an absolutely unholy amount of damage. Units will be hard-pressed to survive a combat phase with this thing if they don’t have an invulnerable save.
Turns out if you don’t have an invulnerable save, for the most part, you will take 18-24 damage from combat with this renegade just like the good guy Gallant.
Renegade Knight Dominus & Armigers
Can you believe that the Imperium has had the Dominus-class Knights for 30 minutes and they’re already turning to Chaos? The stat line for the unit looks the same for Imperial Knights. They’ve just gained the Chaos and Questor Traitoris keywords.
Renegade Armigers will also be spotted joining the Chaos Forces. They are in the same boat as the Dominus class, gaining the Chaos and Questor Traitoris keywords.
Heretical Point Values
Point values got ported across from the Imperium to Chaos. Doesn’t look like there are any changes here.
Rules of the Renegades
- Infernal Quest: Will give the Warlord objective secured and count as 10 models.
- Rotate Ion Shields: Does exactly what the imperium’s stratagem does. Increase the invulnerable save by 1.
- Trail of Destruction: Is just like the Daemon Forged stratagem for Daemon Engines. You get to reroll all failed hit rolls for shooting or fighting…all for just 2CP. Just ad 2 CCW weapon knights for maximum lethality.
This was an unexpected, but welcome release coming from Warhammer Community today. It’s exciting times for Chaos players now that they get to add a whole handful of new units to their army.
What will you be putting in your Chaos army first? What loadout are you giving your Knight?
