Forge World Death Rider Model

The Death Korps of Krieg, famous for their grim determination and unshakeable loyalty, might be getting a shiny new box set, and this time, it’s all about the legendary Death Riders! These mounted warriors are beloved not just for their unique role on the battlefield, but also for their striking look—basically, they’re the Knights in Shining Armor of the grimdark universe.

Word on the street is that the box will include 10 Death Riders, armed to the teeth with a smorgasbord of weapon options like spears, lasguns, chainswords, and more, divided into two squads of five. A new character model—a captain on horseback—will also be in the mix. Rumor has it this beauty might double as a Commissar, giving you all sorts of options for your army.

Talk about versatility! This model could tug on the heartstrings of nostalgic hobbyists while making sure the Krieg cavalry looks as commanding as ever.

To jazz up the infantry lineup, whispers are circulating that the box set might come with a five-man special weapons team geared up with flamers, melta guns, and maybe even a cute little sentry tank. Or, who knows, we might see the Engineers making a comeback, which would be pretty epic!  While the sources are a bit murky, we’re crossing our fingers for more goodies in the box than just these and maybe a few extra infantry squads to spice things up!

Fans have noted artwork from 2023—released alongside the Angron release—that depicted Death Riders in a more modernized aesthetic, hinting at a new visual direction for the regiment (you can see them in the right corner).

It’s not extremely clear, but each horse has a spike on the head and looks to be more heavily armored. The potential inclusion of a limited-edition Astra Militarum codex with exclusive cover art further heightens the anticipation, offering collectors a unique addition to their shelves.

Emperor’s Children: A Symphony of Violence

Fragments of some magnificent panoply, gilded with fine metals, complemented by dazzling accessories…This is all we’ve seen so far, but the shoulder pads look great.

On the Chaos side, rumors point to an Emperor’s Children box set that emphasizes infantry units over heavy armor. With the focus on their infamous Noise Marines and revamped Legionaries, this set promises a stunning representation of the EC’s devotion to Slaanesh and the perfection of their craft.

Key contents are rumored to include two squads of Noise Marines, likely between 5-6 models each, and 20 newly sculpted Emperor’s Children Legionaries. The updated sculpts may showcase the ornate, decadent aesthetic the Emperor’s Children are known for, emphasizing their obsession with beauty, sensation, and excess.

While it is not a named figure, the inclusion of a leader unit tailored to the Emperor’s Children theme could provide narrative richness and powerful customization options. As with the Death Korps of Krieg, this new box set will reportedly feature an exclusive cover artwork codex. For fans of Slaanesh, this will be an opportunity to expand their armies with beautifully detailed miniatures that define the faction’s twisted elegance.

Bridging Lore and Gameplay

Valrak has said both of these rumored box sets look to stay true to their respective factions’ lore. The Death Korps of Krieg, with their somber, trench-warfare aesthetic and relentless determination, embody the grim realities of the Astra Militarum. The reimagined Death Riders could highlight their infamous cavalry charges, a mix of suicidal bravery and tactical efficiency that defines their role in Imperial campaigns.

Meanwhile, the Emperor’s Children have always held a unique position among the Chaos Legions. Their allegiance to Slaanesh, the Chaos God of excess and perfection, infuses their designs and narrative with a vibrant, unsettling flair. The rumored focus on infantry in their box set underscores their origins as masterful warriors before their fall into depravity, with Noise Marines offering a devastating sonic arsenal.

For both competitive players and hobbyists, these boxes could represent a fantastic gateway into competitive or narrative-driven play. Both offer a mix of tactical units and thematic depth, making them valuable additions for collectors and gamers alike.

Wrapping Up the Latest Rumors

DKoK Death Riders

While details remain speculative, the rumored 2025 release for both of these box sets has created quite a stir in the hobby scene. These potential releases seem to honor the legacy of two iconic factions while pushing their stories forward.

For Death Korps of Krieg fans, the spotlight on Death Riders and modernized aesthetics could breathe new life into an already beloved regiment. For those drawn to the dark allure of Chaos, the Emperor’s Children box offers a chance to wield the horrifying beauty of Slaanesh’s chosen in a fresh and exciting way.

Regardless of whether it’s the clattering hooves of Krieg cavalry,  the discordant symphony of Noise Marines, (or both) the future of Warhammer 40k in 2025 looks to be epic!
