RUMORS: More Primaris Space Marine Characters Coming Soon!

Reiver H&S Wal Hor primaris space marine chapter

Primaris Space Marines have been on the rise and the latest rumor is starting to make us think that characters are slowly going to follow suit with Marneus.

Amidst more Space Marine rumors, Primaris are mentioned once again. Since the start of 8th edition, GW has made it a project to steadily drop more and more Primaris models into the game. The first named character that we saw switched from normal to Primaris was Marneus Calgar.  According to these rumors, he was only the first of many.

Space Marine Rumors: More Primaris Characters on The Way

Now, Primaris characters are nothing new. We’ve had access to Primaris Captains and nine-hundred different Primaris Lieutenants over the past year or so that could be brought with any list. The kicker here is that these rumors talk about Chapter-exclusive characters.

According to BoLS:

  • We could be seeing the Chapter’s named characters follow through with what Marneus Calgar did. I.e, Captain Lysander for the Imperial Fists, High Marshal Helbrecht for the Black Templars, Kayvaan Shrike for the Raven Guard, etc.
  • We should also be seeing brand new Chapter-exclusive Primaris characters hit the table that are new to the lore.

What Does All of This Mean For Space Marine Players?

While these are still just rumors, it wouldn’t surprise us if GW followed through with it. So what does it mean for Space Marine players? It looks like we will all have to buy into the Primaris trend, even more, to keep playing Space Marines in 40k. Especially if we like using our named characters. The only people we feel like are safe from the Primaris are the Flesh Tearers.

Gabriel can’t stand them. Good for you, Gabe.

All in all, the community could be split in two as far as what they want for their Space Marines. Some may think that the old named characters turning Primaris would be amazing. Others might not mind a new named Primaris character joining the ranks but feel like they should leave the already-named ones alone in their normal version. (Not following Marneus Calgar).

What are your thoughts about Primaris in 8th edition? Are they slowly making the normal Marines obsolete? Have you taken your older models and given Horus Heresy a try? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
