A new rumor was spotted this morning and it’s all about those new-fangled Primaris Marine units that were dropped at the start of 8th edition!
According to BoLS, there’s talk of some Primaris getting more love at the beginning of next year. Let’s take a better look at the rumor.
Remember to take this with a pinch of salt as always…
RUMORS: Primaris Marine Transports in the Works
Well today’s rumor from an industry professional says to look for the GW classic – a fast 2nd Space Marine Codex coming in 2019. Yes, it really shouldn’t surprise anyone – as Space Marines have pretty much gotten 2 codexes each edition going back a while. I’m sure you remember the pattern:
- Their codex comes out first, then they lose their lustre under the weight of every other codex behind them.
- Then GW gives them a 2nd codex to bring them back up to par with the meta.
- Next edition Launches – GOTO step 1
There is no exact time within 2019, but word says to look for the new book to feature a new set of Primaris reinforcments as Guilliman and Cawl continue to expand the capabilities of their new uber marines to face the new horrors of the galaxy.
There’s talk of a Primaris flyer hitting the shelves as well as a small-unit transport designated for Primaris units.
We aren’t sure if they’ll just be popped into the schedule casually or come along with a big release. There are even more rumors of a second Space Marine Codex dropping sometime in 2019. If these rumors are true, we could be looking for new units around that time.
This is nothing new. Games Workshop has rebooted old Codexes before and more specifically, Space Marines. Think back to previous editions. They give a faction a book at the start of the new edition and once power creep becomes more prevalent, they update the older book and bring them up to speed.
Exactly What Primaris Need
Coming from a playability standpoint, a flyer and a transport would boost Primaris closer to where they need to be in terms of competitiveness. It’s rough having to drop a chunk of points into a Repulsor just to be used as a transport. A cheaper, faster option would be thrown into every Primaris list guaranteed.
It’s almost suicide to leave a unit with a low model- count like Primaris in the open. They won’t last long if you expect them to foot-slog it across the battlefield and make it to the objective in one piece.
What do you think about the rumors that were spotted this morning? Would you play Primaris if they had something like a Rhino? Would you look forward to a second Space Marine codex? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
