Will GW slow roll out the new Space Marines Codex books, or will see them all hit in one big wave. Check out the latest rumor and see what may be next.
We have some spicy new rumors about two Chapters that are next in line for codex support. This isn’t a far-off rumor since we’ve already seen Games Workshop preview [REDACTED] Space Marine codex supplements in a bundle.
Next Codex Rumors:
So what’s the rumor exactly? Here’s what this source had to say:
A bunch of Chapters get support… Next books should be the Raven dudes and the Iron Hands with some special character. Data cards, limited editions part of the release.
Right away, it sounds like Raven Guard and Iron Hands are up next. With the mentioning of some “special character”, it makes us think of the Primaris Iron Father previewed a while back for the Iron Hands.
We’re still waiting for the rules on this guy, but just going off of the model alone, it looks like he’ll at least be able to heal D3 wounds to a vehicle. It would also make sense for him to have some kind of aura. Whether it be something simple like reroll 1’s to maybe +1 to hit for Iron Hands vehicles, either one looks fitting!
We also got an early look at the Warlord Traits for Chapters coming inside the Codex: Space Marines books. (Yes, the Codex Space Marines has one Warlord Trait for each Chapter even though White Scars and Ultramarines have another table of Warlord Traits to choose from as well). So with that said, the Raven Guard and Iron Hands Warlord Traits showing up in this book doesn’t discount the possibility of them getting their own supplement in the near future with their own table of better Traits.
As for the support we know they’re getting:
- Raven Guard- Silent Stalker: Enemy units cannot fire overwatch on the Warlord.
- Iron Hands-Merciless Logic: an unmodified 6 to hit nets another attack.
We also know that they’re getting an updated Chapter Tactic:
Now, the -1 to hit roll will be a bit gamier. Units 12″ away will just count as being in cover (which Imperial Fists don’t care about). If the unit isn’t a Vehicle and they’re standing in a terrain feature, THEN the -1 to hit rule procs.
The Iron Hands still have their 6+++ FNP. But now overwatch on a 5+ and any units with a degrading damage table now count their stats as double the number of wounds remaining. That means your Leviathan Dreads should always be hitting on a 2+ right up until they’re about to bite the dust.
