The Angriest Dread: Furioso Dreadnought Lore

Lore-40k-AoS-blood-angels-titleFurioso Dreadnoughts are about the angriest big stomper in the Galaxy, why have a gun when you can have two CC weapons?

With the emo boys, er… we mean the Blood Angels getting a supplement soo we wanted to take a look at the Furioso. When one of these goes stomping through the enemy lines it causes serious havoc! Let’s all get our biggest gloves and learn a little about these giant machines!

Rage Beyond Death

Like all Dreadnoughts, the pilots of these insane machines are veterans of thousands of battles. The endless battles have finally claimed the body of the Champion, but the mind of the dutiful warrior still rages for the death of the Emperor’s enemies. The pilots are revered by their fellow battle brothers as half relics half heroes. The main difference between the Furioso and a regular dread lies in the entombed party. Sometimes they will throw Librarians who still have work to do into the machine or even one who has succumbed to the Black Rage.

They fight with all the fury they were never able to take out in their lifetime. Drywall must beware whenever a Furioso is around, because who knows when a stray Powerfist will go flying! The main thing all of them have in common, no matter the pilot, they want nothing more than to destroy their enemies up close and personal. They don’t believe in the scardey cat methods of long-range firepower!

And just like the pretentious Marines they are, the Blood Angels are the only ones to give their CC Dreads a totally different name. Most chapters are fine just calling them Close Combat variants, but you know the vampires just have to be different.

Gigantic Fists of Rage

This particular pattern of Dreadnought almost always is exclusively equipped with two giant fists or claws. While they often mount underslung weapons on there, they are almost an afterthought. The main purpose of these insane machines is to charge into combat as fast as possible. Causing as much carnage as they can while worrying about their safety as little as possible.

They fashion the weapons after the more common Powerfist or Lighting Claws, these are something almost entirely. While a normal Space Marine can wield a giant weapon, these can mount fists of epic proportions. They have even been known to take out a Knight before, albeit starting by taking out their legs and eventually getting to the head.

If naming their Dreadnoughts alone wasn’t enough, they even give their CC weapons special names. Like Bloodfists and Bloodclaws. We get it! You like blood, no need to go overcompensating for something… But when your Primarch helped defeat Horus in battle, maybe you get a pass.

That does it for these ferocious machines! If you need some extra CC power and like lumbering giant machines, why not field one?
