new-battleforces-space-marinesHere are the seven battleforces that will save you money on tons of new Space Marine models and are perfect for the 10th Edition 40k codex book!

We’ve seen a lot of battleforces for the Space Marine faction lately (six just in the 2022 holiday alone), so let’s first look back at the 2021 battleforce, then jump into the newer stuff, and finally compare everything.

If you want to check out the value on all of last year’s boxes, you can check that out below.

What’s the Best Space Marine Battleforce in Value?

Space-Marines-Battleforces

Just keep in mind you can actually find most of the 2022 battleforces still, and the four latest Space Marines released on January 14th, 2023. However, the only one that might be hard to find is the 2021 box, which was more of a “generic offering” than the ones that followed…

2021 Space Marines: Shieldbreaker Strike Force $210

Shieldbreaker Strike Force

Battleforce Value:

  • 10 Intercessors: $60
  • 10 Assualt Intercessors: $60
  • 5 Heavy Intercessors: $60
  • Bladeguard Veterans: $50
  • Storm Speeder: $65
  • Primaris Captain: $35

Total MSRP: $330

Total value versus $210 box price: $120

This box had amazing value for all marine players, as there were no specific characters or upgrade sprues.

2022 Space Marines Christmas Battleforces

The 2022 Christmas battleforces were a bit of a mixed bag of Imperial Fists and Ravenguard; however, Games Workshop announced around New Years 2023, there would be four more battleforces hitting shelves in mid-January!

Ravenstrike Battle Force $210

Raven Guard – Ravenstrike Battleforce

  •  Kayvaan Shrike $42
  •  Librarian in Phobos Armour $35
  • 10 Primaris Reivers $60
  • 2 Invictor Tactical Warsuits $130 ($65 each)
  • 3 Eliminators $55

Army Box Retail Price: Total MSRP: $322

Total Value Versus the $210 Box Price: $112

Bastion Strike Force $210

Imperial Fists – Bastion Strike Force

  •  Tor Garadon $42
  • 3 Primaris Aggressors $55
  • 15 Heavy Intercessors $195 ($65 for 5)
  •  Imperial Fists Primaris Upgrades and Transfers $27

Army Box Retail Price: Total MSRP: $319

Total Value Versus the $210 Box Price: $109

Both of these have decent value but are much more specific (with characters and upgrade sprues), so not as good for the generic Marine player.

Iron Hands: March of Iron Strike Force Battleforce $210

Click here to get yours for less from these retailers: | Amazon | Dicehead Games | Bazooka Games Frontline Gaming | Games Workshop’s Store Link

Space Marines Battleforces 2

Space Marines Battleforces 3

  • 2 Redpemtor Dreadnoughts $140
  • Primaris Techmarine $38
  • Feirros $42
  • 10 Intercessors $60
  • Iron Hands Upgrades and Transfers $27 (assuming one set- actual contents not confirmed)

Total Box MSRP: $307

Total Value Versus the $210 Box Price:$97

Still, it can be a good way to go if you’re just starting the army, however, a decent amount of the value comes from the upgrades, so just something to keep in mind.

Salamanders: Warforged Strike Force $210

Click here to get yours for less from these retailers: | Amazon | Dicehead Games | Bazooka Games Frontline Gaming | Games Workshop’s Store Link

Space Marines Battleforces 4

Space Marines Battleforces 5

  • 20 Intercessors $120
  • 3 Eradicators $55
  • 3 Aggressors $55
  • Adrax Agatone $42
  • Salamanders Upgrades and Transfers $27 (assuming one set- actual contents not confirmed)

Total MSRP: $299

Total Value Versus the $210 Box Price:$89

This will have less value than any of the Christmas Battleforces (especially considering the upgrade sprue); however, this has a lot of useful models inside, so it should be worth a pickup to Salamanders players!

White Scars: Storm of Chogoris $210

Click here to get yours for less from these retailers: | Amazon | Dicehead Games | Bazooka Games Frontline Gaming | Games Workshop’s Store Link

Space Marines Battleforces 6

Space Marines Battleforces 7

  • Six Primaris Outriders $120
  • Two Invader ATVs $90
  • Primaris Chaplain on Bike $50
  • Kor’sarro Khan $42
  • White Scars Upgrades and Transfers $27 (assuming one set- actual contents not confirmed)

Total MSRP: $329

Total Value Versus the $210 Box Price:$119

This one has a lot of value, and even at $210, it will be worth a pickup if you need some bikes and ATVs!

Space Marines: Scions of Macragge $210

Click here to get yours for less from these retailers: | Amazon | Dicehead Games | Bazooka Games Frontline Gaming | Games Workshop’s Store Link

Space Marines Battleforces 8

Space Marines Battleforces 9

  • 10 Intercessors $60
  • 10 Hellblasters $60
  • 3 Bladeguard Veterans $55
  • Marneus Calgar and Victrix $60
  • Chief Librarian Tigurius $42
  • Ultramarines Upgrades $16.50 (assuming one set- actual contents not confirmed)

Total MSRP: $293.50

Total Value Versus the $210 Box Price:$83.50

So, this is probably the worst box we’ve seen for space Marines as all the value is in characters and upgrades. Even with that, you don’t even get all the heroes for free.

Which Space Marine Battleforce Has the Best Value

warhammer-40k-christmas-battleforces-value-worth-pricing-games-workshopActually, the 2021 battleforce had the best value for generic Space Marines players.  It had a ton of models without any real specific characters.

Next, the Christmas Battleforces from 2022 takes second place, with only the White Scars box passing them for value. However, even in the Whtie Scars box, you get upgrade sprues (which eat up value sort of) and Kor’sarro Khan.

Lastly, all the Chapter-specific boxes really don’t have that great of a value. Especially considering they can basically only be bought for people who play those factions.

All in all, it seems like the best option would be to find a 2021 box and then add to it with one of these newer boxes from 2022/23!
