The new Winged Tyranid Prime really isn’t doing it for us, as we want the 10th Edition Tyranids rework for Warhammer 40k to be amazing!
First, we’re not saying the model is something terrible, but again, the rework for Tyranids has been a seriously long time coming, and when you rework such a classic line of models, you want something over the top. Honestly, it feels like they tried to compress this and actually stole a classic pose of another one of their models, which doesn’t seem to work for Nids.
The New Winged Tyranid Prime Really Isn’t Doing it For Us…
The images come from Warhamemr Community.
Again, the model isn’t flawed; it’s just not exciting, especially when you compare it to the teaser video!
Honestly, what’s better? A big dynamic winged terror or a scrunched-up model?
Just imagine if the Prime was posed like this and possibly ripping a Terminator in half. It would look so imposing on the tabletop and strike fear into those puny Space Marines! Maybe, it could all come down to gameplay, and this pose’s profile would just be way too crazy on the actual tabletop.
We get it. However, the new Prime looks more like some previous models than one for the Tyranids if you ask us…
Did Games Workshop copy these two models’ homework to get this design? The Flayers’ wings aren’t too exciting, and the Maw-Krusha somehow looks to have the same face and oddly similar pose! If you ask us, the new Winged Prime really has the feel of an older model and is not nearly as dynamic as all the other new previews for 10th Edition.
Especially when looking at these older sculpts, it has an oddly similar feel.
While this might actually help with gameplay, as it gives the model a smaller profile, maybe Games Workshop just wanted it to be a specific size for a reason. Regardless we were hoping for something more like the teaser video on the tabletop!
