There’s Still Time for GW to Fix Kill Team Pariah Nexus

kill team boxHobbyists are upset about the pricing for Kill Team Parian Nexus, and GW hiding the newest units inside, but they could fix it like this…

We’ve seen some interesting moves by GW in the past couple of months, things they don’t normally do like lowering prices and changing sculpts. GW listened to the community when it came to the app and Uriel, so maybe with all the recent uproar, there’s a chance they can keep the Kill Team release from being a debacle. Nobody likes a paywall, especially one that costs $160!

There’s Still Time for GW to Fix Kill Team Pariah For Us

new kill team boxWe did a breakdown of the value, which you can check out here, but basically, you are paying $160 for 12 minis. If you have no intention of playing Kill Team, all the “extra value” is wasted. GW seems to be pulling an EA Battlefront with this box. Where they hyped us up over the new minis for months and then hid the best stuff behind a paywall for an “early bird premium”. But that’s old news, as everybody has been complaining basically non-stop since it was announced.

So that begs the question, what could GW do to change the situation?

What Options are There?

Heavy Intercessor Kill Team feature rFirst, and probably most obvious, would be to just lower the price. GW usually isn’t very keen on lowering prices, but we’ve seen them lower the price on something for the first time in a while. The price of the app was basically cut in half, and the reason is because of the community seemed to not be adopting the app.

GW does listen to the community, they just don’t always act on it. If there is enough outrage, there is a chance they just go ahead and change the price. Honestly, if they just lowered the price by $20-$25 it would make the box much more worthwhile. That way, if you split the box with someone, you are actually getting the minis at a slight discount.

made to order chaos space marinesThe second option had a precedent set with the Indomitus box. Why not just make the new kits MTO and people could get them in a few months. They did this with Indomitus after so many people complained they could only get them on the secondary market for way higher prices.

Especially with all the shipping issues with COVID, the shutting down of their NA distribution center due to weather, and store allocations, you may not be able to get the box even if you wanted to. This would guarantee that everyone who wants it will get it. You’d just have to wait a little while, but that’s better than paying scalpers or not getting it at all.

GW Listens to the Community… Sometimes

uriel ventrils face offUriel Ventris is a great example of when GW changes things based on community input. The original head was, shall we say, less than awesome. They changed the sculpt before it went official, and they could do the exact same thing here. The price or order options are not set in stone, so GW still has time to fix the issues and keep people happy, while still making money.

Especially the MTO option, they would get tons of orders, and then they could fulfill them when they had time.

Do you think we could see GW change anything with the new box? Would you do an MTO order?
