Top 3 Army Lists From the Fantasia Fanatic Sweedish 40k Tourney!
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.
3rd Place: Bilbo Goransson- Genestealer Cult
Looking at the third place Genestealer Cult list we see some units return. The Primus is his warlord and he opted to take the trait Hivelord giving hit rolls of 1 re-rolls to all Hivecult units within 6 inches. Just a solid standard re-roll effect. Other notable includes are the Kelermorph who took GSC by storm when it released, and Ridgerunners which and cheap, durable and pack a decent enough punch.
Looking at the rest of the fast attacks, there are 3 more Ridgerunners bringing that up to 6 total and a whopping 15 Jackals. Jackals are cheap, fast, surprisingly durable with the -1 hit in the shooting phase, and decent enough at killing weaker enemies.
He also took two Rockgrinders, which if you have ever faced know how much damage they can do in just one combat. 6 S9 attacks with -2 AP and D3 damage is very good for just over 100 points, assuming they get to combat and actually fight of course. A Magus and Patriarch were also taken as the standard Psychic support that GSC usually takes.
Last up, he took 35 Acolyte Hybrids, these are standard troop choices and arent anything too special. They are relatively cheap at 10 points a model and have plenty of loadout options. He opted for 15 flamers, 6 rock saws, and the rest are standard loadout. A Clamavus was also taken.
2nd Place: Henrik Lampen- Salamanders
Looking at this Salamander list, there’s only one detachment! Of course, he took Adrax Agatone, as he’s the Salamander special character that came out with their supplement last year. He also took a Chapter Master and Lieutenant for the standard suite of support and re-rolls in Space Marines.
As for troops and elites, there’s a decent spread of choices here, perhaps he was testing these units out. Infiltrators are very good as they can start up the board, scouts are good in a similar vein to a lesser extent. If you saw the new Codex rules, you’ll know that scouts actually switched to Elites now, so this list will need to swap things around to still function. He’s got Bladeguard veterans for decent melee skirmishing and Aggressors with an Invictor Warsuit for some ranged support.
Following that up, for fast attacks, there’s a single attack bike, 3 scout bikes, and an inceptor squad of 5. Inceptors look very good, with Plasma Exterminators packing a serious punch at S8 -2 AP 2 Damage and the blast trait.
Eradicators offer some anti-armor options for not too many points and an Impulsor plus Land Speeder gives the list some basic transport options for the important units like the Eradicators or the Assault Intercessors just to get up the board.
Win a Table of Terrain: Enter Now!
1st Place: Daniel Hesselberg- Imperium
This is technically Imperium as he has an Adeptus Mechanicus detachment, however, 2/3 of his list is actually just Blood Angels!
Starting off with the Adeptus Mechanicus detachment, we see a Tech-Priest Enginseer for some support and 4 servitors for a little extra firepower. The real purpose of the Mechanicus portion of the list is the 15 Raiders he took. These things insanely cheap and give so much value its easy to see why he decided to splash Imperium instead of pure Blood Angels for them.
Moving onto the Blood angels portion, we see he bought an extra relic and decided to also take Astorath. Besides being an awesome model, even with its age, Astorath can absolutely slaughter some characters. Not to mention his “Mass of doom” abilities power. You’re praying for a 2-6 on a d6 roll as it will add 1 to all hit rolls in melee to friendly units within 6 inches. Which as you’ll see this list really wants to get in melee.
There’s a standard Blood Angels Smash Captain, followed by two bare bone assault intercessor squads and a scout squad, which just as we mentioned before, are elites in the new codex coming out next week. There’s also 6 Aggressor who also have power fists to punch things and deal lots of damage from shooting (well until the codex is legal).
Follow that up with Some Bladeguard Veterans and a small blob of Death company marines and you’ve got a force of melee units that excel in close combat to run up the board with Astorath.
Last up for fast attacks and heavy support there’s an inceptor squad with there signature Plasma Exterminators and two stock eradicator squads for extra anti-armor shooting.
At the end of the day, this list has a focus on Close Combat but doesn’t shy away from the much needed objective control with the Admech support and the antiarmor in Eradicators and Inceptors.
Congrats to Daniel on the Win!
