best coast pairingsThanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

3rd Place: Ryan Snyder- Adeptus Custodes

custodes

Dreadhost Shield Host

Per aspera CustodeThe Custode list is written in a different format, but it’s no big deal all the info is still here. First up we got the standard double shield captain HQs, nothing too special about those. Follow that up with 6 Sagittarum w/ Misericordias and you have a somewhat standard Custode list but more geared towards offense. It also takes 10 Vertus Praetors for an elite list that aims to take advantage of pretty much all the most used models.

Rounding out with double Achillus Dreadnoughts to help with the bigger targets and provide a little bit of armor support, and with the 3d6 charge discard one die, they are probably going to get wherever they need to go when they drop into the battle.

2nd Place: Colin McDade- Harlequins

harlequin

per aspera harlequin 1The Harlequin list starts off with a Shadowseer for some psychic support, plus two troupe masters hinting at the usual troupe heavy harlequins list. Sometimes they will splash other forms of Aeldari to round out the edges, but these HQs hint at a pure Harlequin list.

per aspera harlequin 3After getting to the bottom of those Troupe squads we see a total of five, 5 man squads for a total of 25 Troupes. This will form the backbone of the list and thus are important to have a ton of in order to take advantage of some of the other parts of the list, like the Troupe Masters. We also see a single Deathjester to help take out some characters and a squad of Skyweavers to zip around the board and take out unprotected/alone units.

There are two more squads of Skyweavers that make the list have a ton of those pesky jetbikes. They are great at taking out units on the edges of formations, but the guns are actually pretty good in their own right against armor so it doesn’t hurt to have extras of them.

Finishing the list is another factor to help out those blobs of Troupes. 5 Starweavers mean that pretty much all of your Troupes are in transports at the start and can ignore the usual downside of having a Troop heavy list and low movement. With your squad zipping around and being able to shoot, the list becomes extremely mobile while not sacrificing too much-firing power at the same time.

1st Place: John Lennon- White Scars

RUMORS: Next Space Marine Chapter Codex Named White Scars

per aspera white scar 1Just like with the other Space Marine chapters who receive updates in Psychic Awakening, one of the extra reasons to play the factions is with the new character. In this case Kor’Sarro Khan. They also opted to take a lieutenant and a chaplain on a bike for some extra support. For Troops, they veered away from the standard by replacing two intercessor squads with 2 infiltrator squads. This is a small adjustment, but one nonetheless.

per aspera white scar 2Moving onto Elites there’s a single 4 man Bladeguard Veteran squad followed up with some Company Vets and a Primaris Apothecary for some more support.

per aspera white scar 3Finishing up the Elites there are two large Vanguard Veteran Squads all of which are running Jump Pack, Lightning Claw, and Storm Shields. These 20 bodies are very mobile, hard to kill, and even can diss out decent damage with the claws and rerolls. For 560 Points, it seems like a lot, but given what the offer it’s well worth it.

Finishing off the list is 8 Inceptors with Plasma Exterminators giving the list a ton of much-needed anti-armor, all while staying on the theme of mobility and punching power.

White Scars Victory- Congrats to John on the win!
