The Battle For Salvation GT brought nearly one-hundred players under one roof to roll dice. Out of all the competition, three Space Marine lists rose to the top. Check out what they brought along with them.

battle for salvationThanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.

3rd Place: Andrew Gonyo- Raven Guard Successor

BFS raven guard 1Starting off, Andrew brought the Raven Guard successor. This was to keep the Tactical Doctrine bonus of getting +1 to hit and wound against characters and let everyone target them. As for the Chapter rules, he cherry-picked from a list getting +1 cover and +3″ on their weapons. A Battalion was taken with barebones Scouts mainly for the CP.

However, moving to the next Battalion, this detachment was loaded down with three squads of five Assault Centurions, allowing them to move before the game began or even infiltrate up the board.

BFS raven guard 2And finally, a Spearhead led by a Techmarine on bike was filled with three whole Thunderfire cannons. It’s odd that no Eliminators were taken as they’re a star unit in Raven Guard especially. However, the stratagem support for these guns is also fantastic.

2nd Place: Iron Hands- Mark Hertel

BFS iron hand 1In this list, using regular Iron Hands rules were taken with some different units than what we normally would expect to see in IH armies. For starters, a Battalion led by Feirros, a Chapter Master on Bike, and a Lieutenant was taken. This detachment was loaded down with what Raven Guard normally take…Centurion Assault Squads. It looks like these guys are just good all around.

BFS iron hand 2Moving past the beefy Infantry squads, would you believe that a Land Raider Crusader was brought along? We haven’t seen one of these appear in any competitive list that placed well since the start of 8th edition! And finally, for the air support, three Stormhawks and three Stormtalons were taken for rapid dakka that might have been needed anywhere on the board. It looks like Iron Hands might be making the transition to the equivalent of Aeldari Flyer spam lists. Good job!

1st Place: Iron Hands- Nicholas Rose

BFS iron hands bat 1With this Irons Hands list, the 2,000 points were spread out for a Brigade detachment. Incursors as a squad of 10 were taken (which is the first time we’ve seen a top list use them) as well as a fatty 10-man Intercessor Squad. Scouts filled out the rest of the obligatory Troops selections all with sniper rifles.

BFS iron hands bat 2For Elites, three Warsuits armed with autocannons hung back as operated as cheaper autocannon platforms and fantastic damage sponges at 13 wounds a pop. For Fast Attacks, the more popular Land Speeders were brought with Typhoon missile launchers to act as cheap armor poppers that were easy to ignore.

BFS iron hands bat 3And finally, two squads of Eliminators were brought to help the Scouts chip off any remaining wounds from characters. Two Thunderfire Cannons also hung back and shot targets out of LOS and slowed down scary things like melee Dreads and other elite close-quarter units. Great job on this list and coming in 1st Nick!

What do you think about these lists? Are Space Marines on a whole new level of power after placing in the top 3 of multiple tourneys over the last few weeks? What’s the best Space Marine unit for all Chapters now?
