3rd Place: Scott LaFountain – Tyranids
2nd Place: Matthew Green – Tyranids
1st Place: Benjamin Jurek – Orks
Benjamin’s Ork took the SoCal Open with a two detachment setup. The first was a Battalion led by a Warboss on Warbike for re-rolls, plus being a solo threat and a Weirdboy for some great psychic support.
Troops bring in 20 Beast Snagga Boyz for some good melee-range hybrid models that can hold their own and 30 Gretchin for cheap models that can act as distractions and soak wounds.
Elites have a total of 25 Kommandos for some more elite melee and close-range models. There are also five Meganobs for some more great hybrid model options, this time being very durable. They are essentially Ork Terminators.
Fast Attacks have nine Squighog boyz for some simple mobile models that like to charge in and wreak some havoc.
Heavy Supports end the first detachment with 2 Kill Rigs and a Battle Wagon, which all provide some extra oomph on durable chassis and even some transportation capabilities.
Finally, the second detachment is just Ghazghkull, which is undoubtedly the best single Ork model for the faction. Bringing support, fantastic stats, and great combat power, he is too good not to consider!
