Top 40k Army Lists: February SCGC RTT Tournament
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves.
2nd Place: Jason McKenzie- Cult Mechanicus
The first thing to notice in this Battalion of Ad Mech by Jason is the HQ slot. Belisarius Cawl has the increasingly rare re-roll auras, allowing you to reroll all hits in shooting within 6″, making him extremely potent. The other two offer some cheap support characters who can help heal up the front line.
Three units of 5 Skitarii Vanguard give you a cheap solid core of troops. While moving onto Elites gives access to a Cybernetica Datasmith giving even more healing and a power fist for close combat. Ten Sicarian Rustwalkers are cheap bodies with ok movement (compared to all the new units) who excel at killing chaff in melee.
Fast Attacks bring a total of 18 Serberys Raiders, which have excellent mobility and ok shooting, making them very good harassment units. Dragoons bring even more mobility and very good melee fighters, rounding out this section of the list.
Heavy Support sees the addition of 3 Kastelan Robots each with Phosphor Blasters, making them pretty decent against marines with the -2 AP. Two Skorpius Disintegrators loaded up with high Strength ranged weapons round out the list as the main anti-armor threat.
1st Place: Junior Aflleje- Blood Angels
Junior’s Blood Angel list comprises of two patrols. The first is lead by a Librarian and a Captain on Bike, giving the list some targetted re-rolls and mobility, alongside standard psychic support.
Troops add a single squad of Infiltrators just to fill the requirement of a patrol.
Elites are where the meat of the first detachment is, starting with a squad of 6 Bladeguard Veterans. These are great bodies with invulns whose sole purpose is to mix it up in the melee. The other unit is a squad of 8 Sanguinary Guard running standard axes, and fists. These have great mobility, along with decent ranged and melee, making them fantastic all-rounders.
Moving onto the second patrol, it is led by a Sanguinary priest, giving you some options to heal up essential units.
Troops, once again, add a single squad of Infiltrators just to fill the requirement of a patrol.
Elites see two squads of 8 Sanguinary Guard running standard axes in one, with swords in the other. These have great mobility, along with decent ranged and melee, making them fantastic all-rounders.
Heavy Support has a total of 7 Eradicators, giving the list a surprising amount of anti-armor that can easily one turn most vehicles in the game if in range.
Blood Angels Victory- Congrats to Junior on the win!
