40k-homebrew-army-listsChaos Knights score a spot behind the best armies as a new homebrew Warhammer 40k army list emerged at Mid-MO Maelstrom!

9th Edition’s meta is again in flux, but some players take lists with units that nobody expected. Check out this awesome homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend. This shows us that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

Thanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the event as if we were all there ourselves.

If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.

However, we aren’t covering all those lists. Instead, we will look at just one of our favorites this week.

Mid-MO Maelstrom: Joel Adams – Chaos Knights 8th Place

Joel Adams

Joel’s Chaos Knight list wouldn’t be so unusual, but in a somewhat unique twist, he took a second detachment of Daemons!

The main detachment is straight knights with a Desecrator for some ranged power, along with two Executioners and five Stalkers. These provide a mix of ranged and melee power, all on pretty durable and mobile chassis that can hopefully wipe the board of opposing models with their sheer firepower.

The interesting part, the patrol of Daemons, brings in a Keeper of Secret for extra melee power, ten blue horrors provide some minor range chip damage, and some good wound-soaking units to sit on objectives.

Finally, there’s a unit of flamers that help with chaff and can even take out marines if needed!
