Want more Forge World bang for your buck? Check out our top 5 choices that won’t burn a hole in your wallet, and are a solid pick for the table.

Forge World pricing can be on the expensive side. However, if you’ve been having that resin itch that you’re wanting to scratch, go over our top picks that won’t set you back too much.

1. Imperial Quad Mortar Squad $52

quad mortar

In short, these things are like a Thunderfire Cannon on steroids. They can pelt enemies with S4 firepower and if something gets too close, each one of these lobs four S8 3 flat damage shots. They’re a great option that’s cheap, can clear screens, and even make over-aggressive units think twice.

2. Aeldari Hornets $61

Aeldari Hornets are a light Fast Attack unit sitting at 80 pts. They are T6 with 8 Wounds so they sit about where a normal Dreadnought would be on the table. However, what makes these guys so useful is that they move a whopping 18″, are -1 to hit, and have two Shuriken Cannons mounted on their chassis.

In terms of ITC, this thing would be a fantastic option for some turn one midfield objective grabbing that can still support units later in the game. We don’t see these pop up too often in lists but we think they’re definitely a solid choice for someone playing objective-based games.

3. Tau XV9 Hazard Support Team $55

xv-9

The XV9 Hazard Support teams are the Tau’s Forge World option to small battlesuits. The one in the picture has two double-barreled burst cannons and sits at 72 pts. This thing is a cheaper body that dumps 16 S5 shots that can peel small objective grabbers like Nurglings right off the point. Plus, they have a built-in system that increases the charge roll needed to make it into combat with this unit by 2″.

This may not be the quickest screen-clearing option for Tau, but it offers some reactive firepower that can hit the enemy’s weak points.

4. Necron Sentry Pylon $84

Necrons have some really strong firepower overall in their faction. Looking at the spammable Sentry Pylon, these things can be set up in groups that have to be within 6″ of each other. And we definitely recommend running more than one in your list. Looking at the stats, they get two shots at an armor-melting S12 AP-4 D6 damage each.

Plus they really hate on Flyers getting +1 to hit. If you feel like you might be going against Morty in your next game, two or three of these should serve you well.

5.  Tyranid Malanthrope $86

tyranid malanthrope

The Malanthrope is just a Zoanthrope that took everything to the next level. This guy can throw out mortal wounds, creates a Fearless bubble, give a reroll 1’s buff if the Malanhtrope eats an enemy, and even make enemy weapons -1 to hit his friends.

This guy should never see combat unless he’s got back up. But that doesn’t make him useless. You want to run him with swarms of units and keep him in the back of the group where it’s safest. He’s really just a force multiplier that sits at 140 pts.

Like we said before, Forge World may be expensive, but there are a few solid selections for almost every faction. Maybe it’s time to test out some new units with some resin therapy.
