1st Place: Charles Barber – Aeldari / Eldar (W/ Drukhari / Dark Eldar) Army Lists
At the Coastal Assault, Charles’ Eldar army pirouetted its way to victory with the precision, speed, and cunning you’d expect from a faction that’s been outsmarting their enemies for millennia. This list didn’t just win—it danced circles around the competition, using a mix of mobility, firepower, and Eldar trickery to keep opponents guessing and scrambling.
Let’s take a closer look at how Charles brought the Aeldari craftworld and their Dark Eldar cousins together for a perfect performance.
Charles’ leadership was a one-two punch of arcane mastery and dark finesse. At the helm was a Farseer, the quintessential Eldar commander who doesn’t just predict the future—they rig the dice rolls to make sure things go their way. Manipulating probability might sound like cheating, but for the Eldar, it’s just another day at the office.
Backing up the Farseer was Yvraine, the prophet of Ynnead and master of revives. With her ability to bring back fallen units and provide feel no pain to nearby models, Yvraine added a touch of resilience to an otherwise glass-cannon army. Together, these two ensured that Charles’ forces didn’t just hit hard—they hit smart and stayed in the fight longer than their opponents expected.
The backbone of Charles’ list was six Wave Serpents, those iconic Eldar transports that do much more than ferry units around. Armed with solid firepower and some of the best mobility in the game, these skimmers made sure Charles’ army was always exactly where it needed to be. Whether delivering troops to objectives or zipping across the board to lay down suppressive fire, the Wave Serpents were the unsung heroes of this list.
Two Vipers added even more speed to the list, this time without the responsibility of transporting troops. Armed with enough firepower to harass and eliminate key targets, these nimble jetbikes played a vital role in keeping Charles’ opponents off balance. Their ability to strike and retreat made them perfect for hit-and-run tactics.
On the ground, Charles relied on four units of Kabalite Warriors. While not the flashiest part of the list, these Dark Eldar troops provided essential bodies for holding objectives and manning the Wave Serpents. With their weapons and low cost, Kabalite Warriors are the workhorses of any Drukhari force—and in this case, they were the glue that held the list together.
Adding some punch to the army were a unit of Mandrakes and a unit of Reavers. The Mandrakes excelled at close-quarters combat, providing a deadly counterpunch against any enemy foolish enough to get close. Their shadowy nature made them ideal for striking from unexpected angles.
The Reavers, on the other hand, brought jetbike speed and harassment potential to the table. These fast-moving units were perfect for zipping around the battlefield, hitting enemy units where it hurt most, and then disappearing before retaliation could land. They embodied the Eldar philosophy of precision strikes and tactical superiority.
As if six Wave Serpents and two Vipers weren’t enough, Charles’ list included four Venoms. These smaller, faster transports added yet another layer of mobility to the army, ensuring that no objective or key position was ever out of reach. The Venoms weren’t just transport options—they were a statement that this army refused to sit still or let the enemy dictate the pace of battle.
2nd Place: Carter Leach – Chaos Space Marines / CSM Army Lists
3rd Place: Tyler Hammond – Chaos Daemons Army Lists
Charles’ Eldar list wasn’t just fast—it was omnipresent. With an army that could be anywhere, at any time, and hit hard when it arrived, Charles controlled the board like a conductor leading a symphony of destruction. The Farseer and Yvraine ensured the army could manipulate fate and recover from setbacks, while the Wave Serpents, Vipers, and Venoms made sure mobility was never an issue.
These top army lists from Coastal Assault are a reminder that the Eldar can win if built with every unit having a purpose, and every move is part of a grand strategy. With a little bit of finesse, they can hold their own against even the deadliest Daemons and Chaos Space Marines.
The performance of these armies serves as a testament to the ever-evolving nature of the competitive Warhammer 40k meta. Studying these winning army lists for their tactical synergies provides valuable insights for honing your strategic approach.
