The tournament is over, and now we can look at which lists managed to secure a place at the top! Check out what these winners brought in their armies with our commentary on their selections.
TSons Almost Take Down Adepticon 2024: Top 40k Army Lists

Editor’s note: Brandon won Adepticon with a great Tau list that he piloted with expertise. However, this is “old” Tau, and their new update will change a lot for the faction. So his list is below, but our breakdown will be about TJ’s second-place Thousand Sons. We also put one of our favorite top 16 lists, which had a solid variety overall this year.
13th Place: Stephen Crawford – Dark Angels
4th Place: Kevin Leonard – Chaos Daemons
1st Place: Brandon Vallee – T’au Empire (Pre-update)
2nd Place: TJ Laningan – Thousand Sons
TJ’s Thousand Sons did extremely well as a squishy, deadly list that wants to claim the middle of the board and advance up early. For leaders, TJ brought Ahriman for a great +1 wound buff, three Exalted Sorcerers for a 4+ invulnerable, an Infernal Master for sustained hits, and Magnus.
There is also a Daemon Prince with Wings, which is overall a super strong mobile unit with mortal wound output.
Two units of Rubric Marines bring strong bodies with their great warpflamers. A unit of Tzaangors acts as a super squishy melee glass cannon unit for the early game.
A Vortex Beast comes in as a larger model with solid melee power along with some mortal wound output. A unit of Cultists adds some cheap bodies to soak wounds, while three units of Tzaangor Enlightened are efficient mobile ranged units that are only 15 pts per model.
