Space Marines Undefeated: Top 3 40k Lists Warzone Atomic GT

Space Marines go undefeated to win the Warzone’s Atomic Empire 40k tournament? Get the latest on the Top 3 army lists that technically never lost.

Warzone’s Atomic Empire was a themed event that challenged hobbyists to go all out on the background of their armies. Let’s see what three lists made it to the top of the leaderboards from the showdown. Thanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the list details like we were at the event ourselves.

When was the last time you read a title that Space Marine went undefeated at anything?? Second and Third place both had draws to make the top 3 armies technically all undefeated! Plus the Castellan still ranks in the top 3 post FAQ!

3rd Place: Orks- Seth Oster

This list capitalized on the speed from the Evil Sunz to get the Boyz where they needed to go. Plus, with three Warbosses in the first battalion, these Orks weren’t going to be running away any time soon.

Two more battalions full of Gretchin, Stormboyz, Big Meks, and some Mek Gunz were brought along. It looks like the Mek Gunz and Big Meks with Shokk Attack gunz were the brunt of the shooting. The Stormboyz were there to run interference while the Gretchin screened all the firepower.  Plus we all know what the Dread Waaagh does by now, even more shooting Ezibit style…

All in all, not a bad list! It’s pretty rare that we see a gunline Ork list, but it with a chunky squad of Lootas and a wall of Mek Gunz, we can definitely see the potential behind it!

2nd Place: Imperium- Daniel Hesters

This list set up is a bit different from the traditional format. However, Pask lead a battalion of Guardsmen for the CP fuel for some Blood Angels/ Imperial Knight detachments.

As far as Blood Angels go, some of the best characters in their codex were brought along. A Smash Captain with the Angel’s Wing is always an auto-include. Plus a Librarian Dreadnought with Quickening and Wings of Sanguinius is the Imperium’s version of a Daemon Prince. The newly-released Librarian in Phobos armor also made an appearance with his new psychic powers!

As for the Knights, a bundle of Armiger Warglaives guarding a character keyworded Castellan hit the field. While the Blood Angels Smash Captain ate up some CP from the Guard battalion, we feel like the Castellan guzzled up whatever was left over. While he still went up in points, it looks like he’s still a totally viable option.

1st Place: Imperium- Mark Hertel

Skitarii_Rangers

Starting off, the Ad Mech rocked the field in a battalion loaded with Dunecrawlers and some Rangers. Some heavy firepower came out of this detachment but there’s something truly special about this list…

Right here is where the list gets interesting. Imperial Fists with a massive squad of Centurions, Eliminators, and a Land Raider Crusader made up most of the points! How often have you ever seen Centurions used in a competitive list? Especially coming from the Imperial Fists? The trick is the Siegebreaker Cohort which allows them to mutilate any kind of vehicle keyworded enemy in a flurry of mortal wounds.

Finally, to make sure they CP gravy train kept rolling, a cheap battalion of Imperial Guard was taken. A basilisk and Wyvern were also taken to flesh out the points. This is such a unique list that managed to finish in first place! Great job trying out the other units that are off-meta and showing us all that they are totally viable options.

Warzone Atomic Empire was a qualifier for Warzone Atlanta coming up in November.
