Adepticon 2016 has been very exciting this year, not only for 40k, but also for Star Wars. Come see the new unbeatable lists for X-wing miniatures!
The Hoth Open saw 251 players duke it out over 2 days, but then only the Top 5 were left. We have those Top 5 lists here and we will discuss how they worked out for the various pilots that flew them. Let’s begin!
1st Place – Ryan Fleming – Scum and Villainy
PS 3 Contracted Scout – Deadeye + GuidanceChips+ R4 Agromech + Proton Torpedoes +Extra Munitions + Boba Fett
PS 3 Contracted Scout – Deadeye + Guidnace Chips + Overclocked R4 + Plasma Torpedo + Extra Munitions
PS 3 Contracted Scout – Deadeye + Guidnace Chips + Overclocked R4 + Plasma Torpedo
A different take on the triple Jumpmaster list that pops up everywhere these days. Instead of having R4 Agromech on 2 of the ships, Overclocked R4 is used which gets you a focus token after you spend one, at the expense of a stress token. Proton Torpedoes are used on one of the Jumpmasters in addition to Boba Fett. After you fire Proton Torpedoes you may change one of your focus results into a critical hit, and the resulting face up damage card will allow Boba Fett get rid of an upgrade. Supposedly that’s just what he did in the final match as he got rid of the Emperor himself!
Boom goes the dynamite!
2nd Place – Brad Miller – Imperials
PS 7 Whisper – Veteran Instincts + Advanced Cloaking Device + Agent Kallus + Fire Control System
PS 8 Omega Leader – Juke + Comm Relay
PS 2 Omicron Group Pilot – Emperor Palpatine
Palp Aces tried and true. This list uses a super Whisper and Omega Leader, all aided by the dark powers of the Emperor. Agent Kallus is a nice crew choice that allows you to get a free mini focus when attacking or defending against one ship. Gives the Phantom another boost to offense and defense. Omega Leader can be a pain, not allowing any ship that he has target locked modify any dice when attacking or defending against him.
3rd Place – Darwin Schafer – Scum and Villainy
PS 3 Contracted Scout – Deadeye + Guidnace Chips+ R4 Agromech + Plasma Torpedoes +Extra Munitions
PS 3 Contracted Scout – Deadeye + Guidnace Chips+ R4 Agromech + Plasma Torpedoes +Extra Munitions
PS 3 Contracted Scout – Deadeye + Guidnace Chips+ R4 Agromech + Plasma Torpedoes +Extra Munitions
You know it. You love it. Scum is back on top. Triple Jumpmasters are much to be feared. When they fire those plasma torpedoes, it’s almost guaranteed damage with a target lock reroll and a free hit for any die from guidance chips. Also add in one shield lost from the plasma torpedoes and you can strip the shields off of any ship out there.
4th Place – Nathan Eide – Imperials
PS 9 Darth Vader – Adaptability + TIE x/1 + Advanced Targeting Computer + Engine Upgrade
PS 9 Soontir Fel – Push the Limit + Autothrusters
PS 8 The Inquisitor – Push the Limit + Autothrusters + TIE v/1
Triple aces! This list has all the top bad guys from the Imperials. The newest edition is The Inquisitor, who is no slouch himself. His action economy is almost on par with Soontir Fel. Arguably better. Getting that free evade from a target lock action encourages you to keep using it to reroll your dice. And he can barrel roll and boost to get into just the spot to deliver a death blow. The new Elite card Adaptability is used here on Vader. He almost has no use for an Elite talent, but why not give him one that costs 0 points. And it boosts his pilot skill level. Save a point instead of using Veteran Instincts.
5th Place – Zach Bunn – Imperials
PS 9 Darth Vader – Adaptability + TIE x/1 + Advanced Targeting Computer + Engine Upgrade
PS 8 The Inquisitor – Push the Limit + Autothrusters + TIE v/1
PS 4 Captain Yorr – Ion Projector + Emperor Palpatine
Another Palp Aces list. This time the Emperor is riding in style with Captain Yorr, who can take stress tokens on himself instead of your aces. The shuttle also acts as a good blocker with an ion projector. If you get bumped, and you roll hit or crit, you can ion your opponent and set them up for some super hurt. Vader is the same as the above list, but no less deadly. Adaptability is used again, at a bargain price of 0 points. I like saving points! Usually you see Veteran Instincts on Vader, but at pilot skill 11, it seems redundant.
Wow! What a crazy Top 5! Scum is back with a vengeance this time around, and the Imperials are always on top. Rebels didn’t have a presence in the top 5 but that doesn’t mean that they won’t be. The Ghost and Phantom are out there and they are both amazing ships. I expect to see them in top Rebel lists in the future. This is the top lists currently in the X-Wing scene.
Keep practicing and flying your favorite ships for the love of Star Wars!
