X-Wing Miniatures: New Ship, New Play Mechanic

By Barclay Montgomery | November 2nd, 2016 | Categories: Star Wars, Tactics, X-Wing 2.0

With new ships come new cards. The latest ship to hit X-Wing is the Rebel TIE fighter. Come and see what new tricks this little ship has up its sleeve. One of the pilots in the Rebel TIE expansion is Captain Rex. He has an interesting pilot ability that adds a lasting condition to the game rules. His ability allows you to assign the “Suppressive Fire” Condition Card to an enemy ship after he attacks it.

Condition Cards are new upgrades that have lasting effects in each battle. After they reach their activation conditions, they remain in game until otherwise noted. The “Supressive Fire” condition adds an element of strategy to your squadron.

The “Supressive Fire” condition states: if the ship that was assigned said condition, fires at any other ship, besides Captain Rex, it must roll 1 fewer attack die. This is truly a suppressive strategy as it forces the opponent to attack Captain Rex while your other ships maneuver around into advantageous attack positions.swx59_preview-1

Captain Rex will surely act as a major distraction for the opposing team. The best strategy is to force your opponent into hard decisions that might cause him to make a mistake. Will you be trying out the latest Condition Card with Captain Rex?

“Do it!”
