The Shocking 10th Edition 40k Meta So Far (It’s Not Eldar)

new-competivie-meta-warhammer-40k-10th-EditionWe have some surprising meta results in the first round of 10th Edition 40k tournaments, as Aeldari didn’t even crack the competitive top 3!

Many people have predicted all kinds of stuff about what the 10th Edition 40k meta would end up being. However, it’s nice to actually have some real results to look at and, maybe better, some actual army lists to see what people are playing.

Obviously, there are still some inconsistencies with the datasheets, and most likely, we would think a FAQ is on the way to shore up some things sooner rather than later. So things might be changing a lot based on these early tournaments, but here’s how the Warhammer 40k competitive meta has shaped up in the very beginning!

No Eldar: The Shocking 10th Edition 40k Competitive Meta So Far!

The new 10th Edition Warhammer 40k Competitive Meta below comes from Blood of Kittens.

A lot of the tournaments played this weekend still used the 9th Edition rules, which makes sense as people haven’t really had much time to play test games. However, a few tournaments used 10th rules, and so far, it seems to favor Knights!

A few things may have played into how well Knights did in the new 10th Edition Warhammer 40k competitive meta.

First, with towering, it doesn’t matter where you hide, as the Knights can see you! Then, with the NERFs to weapons (for smaller guns coming over from the old edition), it is really hard to kill off massive models; oh yeah, and Knights have crazy high OC now, so they can also just take all the objectives.

Many people predicted Eldar to be the number one, but Knights are just such a powerful alpha strike list right now. So without people knowing how to kill all those giant models, they are the obvious contenders for the strongest army so far.

We’ll have to see if GW hits them with strong rules NERF or perhaps they get some points adjustments in the future.

Either way, let’s take a look at one of the winning lists!

Army Total: 1995pts

As you can see, they went with three big Knights and a five Armigers zerg style rush, with plenty of tank-killing weapons. Once this list becomes honored (5+ Feel no Pain roll and oath ability) and gets rid of the enemy’s tanks and big guns, it’s going to be extremely hard for them to chew through any knights from there.

They also grabbed plenty of Avenger Gatling Cannons, which decimate every form of infantry, so overall, a pretty great list that easily took out the competition!
