Hello again Armada fans! Come see the latest Imperial menace that is sweeping the Armada scene: The Fireball formation!
That’s right, the Ackbar/ Home One combo is not the top dog anymore. I’m talking…Fireball! It’s burning up the meta game. Let’s take a look.
Imperial Fireball
Darth Vader, Dengar, Major Rhymer, Firespray x4 = 111 points
Let’s do a stats rundown:
38 hull points, 5 braces, 1 scatter.
19 blue anti-squadron dice, 2 black anti-squadron dice
8 blue bomber dice, 1 black bomber die, 2 black anti-ship dice
Close to medium threat range for all bombers
Intel, Rogue, Escort, Counter
This Fireball has it all. It acts as its own capital ship in a way. If any squadron gets near, Darth Vader and Dengar ensure that none of the heavy hitters are prevented from performing their bombing runs, and the Firesprays have more than enough anti-squadron to deal with them.
It is a steep points investment but your opponent will have to invest in serious squadron cover to deal with the Fireball, if he even brought squadrons. With some fleet builds going all in on ships, the Fireball could go unopposed in some matches. The destructive power of said Fireball should be able to burn down even an ISD in 3 turns.
