Kharadron Overlords

This week sees the release of three new units for the Kharadron Overlords. Let’s see if these are must-haves in your fight for your skyports!

The Aetherial Navigator,  Brokk Grungsson the Magnate of Barak-Nar, and the long awaited Arkanaut Ironclad are finally here and ready for your armies. These units boast excellent detail with the Navigator on one sprue, Brokk on two, and the Ironclad on three full sprues.

The Ironclad hull, scale-wise, is around the same size as a  Sicaran Battle Tank. Having 440 points, 8’in move, and 18 wounds, having one of these units will be a strong addition and builds can be made around it where it will be very hard to kill.

The Aetherial Navigator comes with great detail and is semi three-dimensional. However, it may not be great to take him. He does add more speed to your skyvessels. So, if your build needs speed then he is your guy. But, he may be overshadowed by the Endrinmaster and Aether Khemist in terms of efficiency.Aetheric Navigator Brokk Grungson packs a lot of heat in a small package with Aethermatic Saw, The Magnate’s Charter, and Grungsson’s Boast cannon. He even is pack heat in his beard! He comes in at 300 points and is a little too expensive unless you are planning on building around him. A build idea would be to group him with a few Aetheric Navigators for speed and have a charge/quick move build going.

Arkanaut Ironclad: $115

Araknaut Ironclad

The jewel in the crown of the fleet, the Arkanaut Ironclad is a majestic airship. Bristling with weaponry, its deep cargo holds can be laden with aether-gold or it can be loaded to the gunwales with Arkanaut Companies or Grundstok Thunderers. Advancements made by the Kharadron’s endrineers have allowed for ever-larger vessels of the skyfleet, and the Ironclad is to date the biggest. Clad in layer upon layer of riveted iron plates, these massive ships pour astonishing amounts of aether-shot, bombs and torpedoes on anything with the temerity to get between the Kharadron Overlords and their bounty of aether-gold.

This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble an Arkanaut Ironclad. Befitting its status as the flagship of a Kharadron skyfleet, this model is of an impressive size, and is absolutely covered in weaponry. For a main gun, you have a choice of great sky cannon, great skyhook, and aethermatic volley gun, with aethershot carbines, a supremacy mine, aethershock torpedoes, detonation drills, fragmentation charges and grudgesettler bombs attached to the hull.

The ship itself is held aloft by a massive dirigible covered in detailed pipework and fittings, and features a huge array of customisable features – the crow’s nest can feature either a navigator or signaller Kharadron with their own telescope and light box, and there’s a ton of rigging, bomb racks, ladders and various ship’s paraphernalia to place wherever you’d like. It’s covered in aerofoils which can be modelled to show the direction of travel, and a complex-looking system of cogs driving the rudder. There’s even a plank which those foolish enough to be captured will be forced to walk…

The crew of the Ironclad are every bit as detailed as the vessel they man, with a captain standing at the ship’s wheel; an endrinrigger with various tools hanging off the side, fixing an important leak; a gunner to stand at the main weapon and the aforementioned signaller and navigator.

This kit comprises 152 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 170mm Round base and 50mm ball and socket flying stem.

Aetheric Navigator: $25

Aetheric Navigator

Masters of the guiding winds, Aetheric Navigators are aero-cartographers, atmospheric map-makers that help chart courses, find currents and steer along perilous trade routes. Even the most journeyed Admirals value the counsel of an Aetheric Navigator, for they can see barometric eddies and electro-aetheric vortices, and can plot a course through such hazards. Using a plethora of mechanical wonders, an Aetheric Navigator can influence the winds to gain the weather gauge, speed up his fleet or slow down flying foes. They can even call upon aetheric currents to disrupt enemy spells, and their keen eyes ensure that they are proficient in the use of firearms.

This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble an Aetheric Navigator. Posed dynamically, clutching his zephyrscope, he’s covered head to toe in gadgets and devices used to gauge the conditions around him and direct the skyfleets to their goal – lenses, filters, an anemometer on his right shoulder, a map case, pipes and cables used to power his equipment via his sealed suit… he’s a great example of the technology the Kharadron employ.

The Aetheric Navigator comes as 10 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 32mm Round base.

Brokk Grungsson, Lord-Magnate of Barak-Nar: $40

Brokk Grungsson

Brokk Grungsson exemplifies the self-made Kharadron Overlord privateer. He is rapacious in the hunt for aether-gold, and daring in his explorations of the skybound wonders of Chamon. Brokk Grungsson is the only Admiral that has successfully led a fleet around the Spire, the fabled Horn of Chamon. Some Kharadron would be satisfied having achieved such honours, but Brokk Grungsson strives on, hungry for ever-more success and recognition – his natural aeronautical abilities and aggressive nature mean these successes are rarely far from his grasp.

This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble Brokk Grungsson, Lord-Magnate of Barak-Nar. Borne aloft in an elaborate, custom-made dirigible suit, he’s armed with a sizable cannon known as Grungsson’s Boast, a multi-barrelled gun called the Magnate’s Charter and an aethermatic saw for close combat. He also features aetherblasters mounted in his impressive moustache; such is the opulence his status brings!

The suit itself is covered in the kind of pipes, valves, cogs and latticework you’d expect for a duardin able to pay for the finest things in war, even including a custom filtration system and powered assistance for his limbs. Brokk Grungsson is a powerful duardin, and before his enemies die, he wants them to know it…

This model comprises 46 components, and is supplied with a Citadel 50mm Round base, with a 35mm ball and socket flying stem.
