astra militarum hor walMore Death Guard and the new Astra Militarum codex are on the way as GW just gave us a look at this week’s upcoming releases, come see!

The latest announcement from Games Workshop reveals this week’s new releases which include the new Astra Militarum codes, and some new Death Guard minis. Let’s take a look at what they had to say.

A new codex, a battlefield in a box, and four new models for the Death Guard – there’s loads to look forward to with next week’s pre-orders!

Codex: Astra Militarum is the next codex in line for Warhammer 40,000, and it’s just as packed with new content as its predecessors.

Astra Militarum Codex

We’ve seen rules for Space Marine Chapters, Traitor Legions, forge worlds, and now there are rules for 8 regiments of the Astra Militarum. Which regiments, you ask? Cadia and Catachan will, of course, be included, as well as new rules for Armageddon, Tallarn, Valhalla, Vostroya, Mordian and the Militarum Tempestus. Each one of these factions will be getting its own regimental doctrine, order, stratagem, relic, and warlord trait – the codex is absolutely brimming with content, aimed at letting you customise your army to suit your style of play.

So the Guard will be seeing new stratagems, relics, and warlord traits for the Cadia, Catachan, Armageddon, Tallarn, Valhalla, Vostroya, Mordian and the Militarum Tempestus regiments. This should open up a lot of options for Guard players. We can expect to see a wekk of teasers leading up to the release of the new codex, so stay tuned for the latest updates on the new rules coming out from the Astra Militarum Codex.

Astra Militarum

Similarly, the codex is set to diversify Astra Militarum lists with tweaks to rules and points aimed at putting each unit on an even footing. Conscripts, for example, have been changed to better reflect their inferior discipline compared to professional soldiers. It’s not just about rules, either – the new codex contains loads of new background and art, including a look at some of the more unusual regiments of the 41st Millennium and advice on how you might want to convert them.

As with all codecies, Guard players can look forward to more art, and more lore coming out alongside new rules. We can’t wait to see what’s in store!

In addition to the new Astra Militarum codex we’re going to be seeing four more items coming out next week. Moon Base Klaisus is going to be a new box set accompanied by the new Death Guard Tallyman, Plague Surgeon, and Plagueburst Crawler. Make sure you check back in with us later for more on these other new items.
