Sector Mech Terrain Post

Even though Necromunda is here, don’t miss the two terrain sets and one BIG bundle of terrain for your games of Warhammer 40k that also include rules.

With the review of the Necromunda: Underhive starter box out of the way, our very own Rob Baer has moved on to the accessories, expansions, and terrain that have accompanied the Necromunda release.

Games Workshop also put some 40k offerings this week for plasma terrain which you can use in games of either. They also come with rules for use with 40k, that you can checkout in a previous post.

Sector Mechanicus Boxes

The new Sector Mechanicus terrain kits that were released alongside Necromunda are great little kits that have their own rules for Warhammer40k and Necromunda as well. You can use this terrain in conjunction with the Gang War supplement to bring your gangs to the surface and battle amongst the Mechanicus terrain hellscape.Promethium Refinery

The Promethium Refinery is the largest of the latest Sector Mechanicus kits. It contains 8 sprues that hold platforms, walkways, support structure, and the promethium stack itself. The terrain is quite easy to put together and the instructions are easy to understand. It has far better detail than what we have seen previously with other terrain kits. There are no special rules for the Promethium Refinery other than your standard cover.

The Plasma Conduits and Regulators do have some special rules. One in particular will punish those units who pull off an excellent cover save. Rob goes in depth into the kits and their special rules in the review video below.

Thermic Plasma Conduits: $35

A series of interconnected pipes used to channel hot plasma from its generators to the equipment that uses it Thermic Plasma Conduits can, in a pinch, be used as cover – this brings with it a selection of dangers, as the scorching plasma can cause drastic injuries to anyone should the pipes be breached.

This kit includes the following components, fully compatible with all Sector Mechanicus kits:

– 12 pipes;
– 4 control points;
– 8 plasma fusion batteries that can be fitted into the control points – these slide in and out without glue, offering a great narrative opportunity;
– 32 braces for the pipes;
– 4 short, broken pipe sections;
– 8 short, curved pipe sections;
– 4 short end pipes.

Rules are included for use in games of Warhammer 40,000.

Thermic Plasma Regulators: $25

Used to control the flow of scorching plasma from generator to final destination, these Plasma Regulators can be used as cover by the brave (or foolish) – they have a tendency to leak their meltingly-hot cargo when hit by stray gunfire.

This kit contains 2 Thermic Plasma Regulators – each is a detailed plastic scenery piece, which is compatible with the Sector Mechanicus scenery range. The main body of the Regulators feature a small platform and guard rail, from which your miniatures can fight.

Rules are included for use in games of Warhammer 40,000.

Promethium Refinery: $115

Assemble a Promethium Refinery – an awesome and atmospheric piece of scenery for use in games of Warhammer 40,000 – with this set of components. It includes:

– A central silo, which can be modelled open or closed;
– 2 sets of platforms, including lots of ladders, guard rails and pulleys, for constructing multi-level pieces;
– 2 sets of walkways, which too include pulleys and guard rails for adding detail;
– A set of supporting structures used to hold the whole set in place;
– A set of 2 frames making up an Alchomite Stack, featuring a central dome and several chimneys.

These components can of course be assembled in any way you see fit, being completely modular in nature – perfect for games of Necromunda: Gang War!

These Sector Mechanicus Terrain kits are available now at your local Games Workshop store or your FLGS. Be sure to press play on our quick and dirty unboxing and review video below for the full review.
