Whether you are wanting to start a Necron army or are a veteran Necron player looking to expand your list, the new Start Collecting: Necrons box from Games Workshop is a great option. Our very own Rob Baer has this kit on his paint bench to give you the full breakdown of what you will find inside and some assembly/conversion options to get those hobby juices flowing.

Necron Start Collecting box

The Start Collecting: Necrons box comes with 23 miniatures and retails for $85. You will be saving $50 with this kit if you planning to buy the units individually. With the units included, you could field 2 patrol detachments or a single battalion detachment if you so desire. If you have a friend who has the new Forgebane box and is looking for someone to take the Necrons sections, combine that with this kit and you will have a decent Necron starter army with very little upfront cost.

The assembly instructions for the Necrons are very simple and do allow for great conversion possibilities.

Necron Start collecting Catacomb

When assembling your barge, you will have the option to make the Annihilation option or the Catacomb Command option. Well, why not have both? You can accomplish this by having the Lord and the twin-linked tesla destructor swappable.

Do not attach the bridge piece that would go in front of the Necron Lord and you will have a nice open space to easily fit in the tesla destructor or your Necron Lord. You can magnetize them if you do not want them to move around. Also, the pilots do not have to be included since they have no stats of their own. So, if you are looking to save time, leave them off.

Rob covers the contents of the kit and more conversion options in his full review video below!

2018 Necrons Start Collecting

For sixty million years the Necrons have slumbered, their tomb worlds filled with dormant armies and inactive war machines. Now they are awakening as if from half-remembered nightmares, and the galaxy shudders at their return. From vast crypt-fortresses, burnished legions emerge into the dying light of the 41st Millennium, a steel sea rippling beneath the crackling energy discharge of esoteric battle engines. Swarming metal Scarabs, talon-limbed horrors and spectral assassins accompany them, their alien minds focused on a single purpose – to reclaim the stars.

This is a great-value box set that gives you an immediate collection of fantastic Necrons miniatures, which you can assemble and use right away in games of Warhammer 40,000! You’ll receive a Necron Overlord, an Annihilation Barge with Lord On Foot (which can be built as a Catacomb Command Barge), 12 Necron Warriors, 3 Scarab Swarms and 5 Immortals (which can be built as Deathmarks.)

The Start Collecting Necrons box is available now online and in local Games Workshop stores. Be sure to press play on our review video below for more.
