Today we unbox and build General Veers for Star Wars Legion to see all the new rules, components and even build the model itself!
Let’s take a look at what’s inside the General Veers Commander Expansion for Star Wars: Legion. This is the first Commander expansion released for the game separately, and Veers brings much to the table as a strong starting commander that synergies well with your Star Wars: Legion army lists.
The Veers expansion retails for $12.95 and comes with tokens, 3 upgrade cards, 3 command cards, Veers’ unit card, and an easy to assemble miniature. He clocks in at 80 points (120 below Vader) and comes with 2 command upgrade slots and one equipment upgrade slot.
His Command Cards are very balanced and benefit vehicles, troops, and himself. For example, his Maximum Firepower, allows him to roll 4 red dice that are Impact 2 and Immune: Deflect. This can be brutal to an enemy commander such as Luke Skywalker since he cannot use his lightsaber to deflect. It also appears to have a range of 4 to beyond 4 just like the AT-ST Mortar.
As for his upgrades, they are all pretty good. Commanding Presence allows him to issue commands at Range 4. Esteemed Leader allows core troops to take fire for Veers at Range 1. Finally, Environmental Gear allows you to move unhindered by difficult terrain.
Taking a look at the model, it assembled great with no issues at all. There is a gap or two that can be seen here but if that does bother you, you can use some Vallejo Plastic Putty to fill them.
He is going to look great when he is all painted up as the detail on Veers is great and is a solid improvement from the models that we saw in the starter kit. To be honest the same thing happened with Runewars, as the expansions came out, the detail improved.
