Confirmed pricing for the new Orks Speed Freeks Box set is making the rounds, and it seems to have a lot of 40k hobbyists scratching their heads right now.
Multiple retailers have already confirmed the pricing of Speed Freeks. With that being said, is it a decent deal? Take a closer look and decide if this is where you want your hobby bucks to go.
Let’s break everything down starting at the top:
Speed Freeks Box Set $150
With only four kits of models coming inside according to GW, hobbyists seem to be wondering where the value is that was promised in the lastest preview:
In the box, you’ll find the rules, tokens and templates you need to play, plus six Warbikes and two of the new Ork buggies, exclusive to this set.
For the models inside alone, the set is a cracking deal – basically, it’s a great way to start collecting your Speedwaaagh!, with the added bonus of being a brilliant standalone game.
Going by the picture above, box looks like it’ll be coming with a small wasteland-type map with just a few spatterings of terrain. This is extremely similar to the Killzone boxes we’ve seen on the rise hitting the shelves at $80 a piece.
Moving along to the models, it looks like the Shockjump Dragsta and the Kustom Boomblasta will be coming inside the box as a part of the new line of vehicles. You’ll also be able to use the other vehicles on the way for Orks in the game as well.
Lastly, there are six Warbikes coming in the game (three for each player).

Some people are saying that the price of the box is too high after GW already said that it would be a good deal. Maybe we aren’t giving the models enough credit.
Is the “High Cost” Not that High After All?
These vehicles look like they’re coming on Knight bases. That means the models are already bigger than what we expected but are more than likely NOT going to take up a Lord of War slot. In our post from earlier, we estimated the price of these guys to be about $52 per model.
Some of you might be thinking that $52 is already too steep. But let’s take a look at the prices of other models that come on Knight bases.
Obviously, the Imperial Knight
Tau Stormsurge
Just as a disclaimer, we can’t expect to pay a Lord of War price for something that’ll more than likely be a Fast Attack, Elite, or Heavy Support option. However, these models ARE bigger than we guessed and we still don’t know the stats on these guys. That means that an army may only need to run one or two to be completely effective.
