With Chapter Approved on the way, rumors are beginning to pop up about new Primaris and Codex Space Marines 2.0 for 2019.
Rumors are beginning to swirl around the internet when people look at what’s ahead in 2019. Primaris may be getting the support that some say they should’ve gotten at the beginning of 8th. With that being said, let’s check out exactly what people have been talking about.
Now to be fair Rob has been hypothesizing for the last year or so on the podcast about the eventuality of all Warhammer 40k codex books being updated with a 2.0 status to include new rules from supplements, FAQs, and of course all the new points costs since 8th dropped.
Keep in mind too that models like Marbo don’t even have a unit entry in their book as they were released post codex drop as well.
New Primaris Units in Space Marine 2.0 Codex
REMEMBER: These are just rumors so take everything with a grain of salt.
Going by the rumors and wishlisting, Primaris may be getting:
- Primaris Vehicle with heavy-hitting turret-mounted options
- Some kind of small flyer
- A Primaris medium transport (something along the line of a rhino).
- Faster one-man vehicles (Maybe something like Bikes or Land Speeders).
- Primaris Melee assault squads with Terminator-equivalent wargear.
We’ve been saying for a while now that all Primaris need to send them over the “hump” into competitive play is a points reduction and speed.
As of right now, the only way to get your Primaris up the board is with a transport just costs too much for what it does. If Primaris had different routes players could take in terms of mobility, then they would be a lot more potent.
Could this rumor engine from a while back be the tail end of the Primaris medium transport? It definitely has the likeness of the Repulsor.
Keeping up with the rumors, the Primaris assault units with Terminator-style wargear is something we’ve somewhat covered already. Primaris are SEVERELY lacking in the melee department as of right now.
Primaris have been keeping a theme of hovercraft-esque vehicles (looking at the repulsor). So perhaps all of these other rumors with the medium transport, light vehicle with heavy turret options, and bike equivalent models will all be anti-grav hovering units.
Even though these are still just rumors, exciting times may be ahead for Primaris in 2019. What would you like to see them get? Which of these units sound the most viable to you? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
