Flames of war is a great tabletop war games based on the battles of WWII and features many of the weapons and technology that were brought to the frontline battles. The JU 87 played a pivotal part in Germany’ss Blitzkrieg advance across Europe and the Soviet Union.

Let’s take a look at what this amazing dive bomber will bring to Flames of War.

Though its design seems somewhat clunky and old fashioned, the Stuka provided a much-needed service to the Luftwaffe and her allies as a ground attack aircraft. Despite the initial perception, the Stuka included some innovative features, such as an automatic pull-up system to ensure that the plane recovered from a dive even if the pilot lost consciousness from the G-forces. The aircraft was easily recognisable by its inverted gull wings and fixed undercarriage.

On the leading edges of its main gear legs were mounted the Jericho-Trompete (“Jericho trumpet”) wailing sirens, which became the propaganda symbol of German air power and the blitzkrieg victories of 1939–1942.

The Stuka Flight can be modelled as either the iconic JU 87 Stuka Dive Bomber Flight or the JU 87 Stuka Tank-Hunter Flight. The dive bomber with its deadly accurate 500kg bombs can take out enemy targets with pinpoint accuracy. The JU 87 Tank-Hunter can fly low under the enemy’s anti-aircraft net and strike tanks in their vulnerable flanks. Both aircraft offer the German player a swift and stylish method with which to surgically knock out high-priority enemy targets.

These new Planes will add a tactical advantage to the German Forces as it picks off high priority targets while the rest of the infantry and tanks advance.
