New Shadowspear Chaos Rules & Restrictions SPOTTED

new wal hor Chaos Getting Their Own Primaris Sized Models Now!

Have you been scratching your head about the warlord traits and points cost for the Chaos side of Shadowspear? Check out these new pics of all the rules!

Spotted on Imgur, we’ve got a better/early look at the Chaos mini codex for the Shadowspear Box Set. Looking beyond Shadowspear, Chaos is gearing up to hit the tabletop in full force.

Let’s check out the points cost of everything first.

Shadowspear’s Chaos Points Breakdown

  • Looking at the new units, the Greater Possessed are 70 pts apiece.
  • The Master of Possession is only 98 pts (which is solid considering he’s got six new psychic powers and character keyword protection).
  • Obliterators are assault 6 each now, and also cost 115 pts.
  • Lastly, we have the Vencomcrawler sitting at 130 pts which we really think is only worth it in a heavy Daemon Engine/summoning army.

New Chaos Warlord Traits

We’ve seen a few of these warlord traits in some previews before. So let’s take a closer look at the brand new ones! Keep in mind that these warlord traits are geared around the Master of Possession in the Box Set so these are psychically-themed.

  • Arch Sorcerer is decent, letting your Warlord know an extra power. However, you might as well just take another Master of Possession and sling four different psychic powers a turn!
  • Reader of Fate is always solid because you’ve got a free re-roll on a psychic power of whatever you REALLY need to go off. You’ll probably net 1-2 CP off of the Warlord Trait too, considering you’ll be able to cast two per phase.
  • Infernal Gaze is an OK option. If you want to keep your Warlord safe behind your line, you’ll still be able to reach out and touch things with that 24″ smite.
  • Warp Lord is another decent option essentially keeping you from spending a CP to re-roll the 1 on the dice for your casting roll. However, we think Reader of Fate is still the better option.
  • Daemon-Bound Power is probably one of the options you’ll choose the least. Your 90 pt Psyker probably won’t be the best at melee combat so just keep him back and cast spells.

Anything with the Legion keyword can take these new models except for Death Guard, Thousand Sons, and Fallen. It makes sense because their ways of fighting are completely different. (Death Guard are plague-promoting and Thousand Sons are all mindless dusty boys, for example).

The last sheet is just showing that the Chaos units have Death to the False Emperor and you can still summon.

Will the new rules complement the current Chaos codex? At the very least, we should be seeing the Master of Possession appear in all sorts of Daemon themed Chaos lists.

What is your Chaos list shaping up to be? Are you going to run Abaddon or a Lord Discordant and Master of Possession? Which Warlord Trait out of the mini codex looks the most competitive? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
